If you want to know what does a half-billion-dollar TV show looks like, then you definitely need to see the newly released teaser trailer of Amazon’s ‘Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’. The clip was released during the Super Bowl LVI and it seems, we will be going for a thrilling ride in the magical world of Middle Earth.

Peter Jackson stunned the world with the ‘LOTR’ trilogy and won numerous awards for it. However, it has been more than 8 years that fans got to see anything related to Middle Earth. The 2014 movie ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ was the last time we saw the intriguing world stitched by the iconic author JRR Tolkien.

Amazon's 'Lord of the Rings' TV series to run for five seasons, focus on young Aragorn

The 60-second clip wastes no time in reintroducing viewers to the magical world filled with stone-wrought coastal cities, fierce elves, hard-hitting dwarves, and mighty battles. We hear a young woman’s voice saying, “There are wonders in this world beyond our wandering.” Although the teaser trailer was loved by one and all, fans believed that too much CGI might ruin the real ‘LOTR’ experience.

One of the fans wrote, “Looks too clean and digital. It doesn’t feel real. The Lord of the Rings looked old and dirty, and that’s what made it feel more alive IMO.”

“When I saw the first scene I knew it was the LOTR show. But then the next part looked like a video game, so I thought I was wrong. And then the next scene looked like LOTR again, but then went back to looking like a fantasy app. The effects and CGI look like a VR game,” said another one. Meanwhile, another fan said, “Too much CGI and action.

Tolkien’s work was about the characters, their connections, and their world not your next blockbuster action scenes. Should really have had Philippa Boyens and Peter Jackson on this. Not looking good and I am super worried.”

However, there were many who loved the trailer and said that they can’t wait for the series to arrive.

“Looks absolutely amazing and the haters are looking sadder than ever,” said one of the said.

“It feels like we haven't had an epic, adventurous, action series to this scale and degree in so long. #LordoftheRings #RingsofPower looks like it'll change that and deliver something truly special. From the visuals to the characters, story, and epic score, I can’t wait!” said another one. “Rings of Power already blowing every other 2022 show out of competition. Lord of the Rings keeps sweeping,” wrote another fan.

The upcoming series is set thousands of years before the events of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’. It covers Middle Earth’s Second Age, which includes the forging of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the story of the island kingdom of Numenor, and the last alliance between Elves and Men.

The season is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on September 2, 2022.
