Suitcases containing remains of two children 'shuttled between storage locations' for a WHOLE YEAR
AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND: Suitcases containing the remains of two young children inside it were allegedly moved between storage locations for a whole year before they were found, according to the police. A family from Manurewa in Auckland bid in an auction and won them subsequently.
The remains of a five-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl aged were discovered by a terrified family in Auckland on August 11, after they won the suitcases in a storage auction. As per authorities, the primary school-aged kids had been inside the suitcase for three to four years.

According to reports, the suitcases were moved between different units in the same Safestore facility in the second half of 2021. Upon inspection, dead flies and rats were found inside the unit but no reports have emerged regarding an unusual smell, according to sources speaking to New Zealand news website Stuff.

The couple then won the suitcases in the auction before making the startling discovery. Investigations are still on regarding the death of the two children.
Journalist Chereè Kinnear, host of the 'In the Loop' podcast, recounted the moment journalists showed up at the scene presuming it was a domestic violence incident. "At least two hearses had pulled up as well," she recalled, adding, "We were still unclear as to what had happened. We thought it had something to do with the people living at the house. The rumor that went around was perhaps there was a domestic issue. We knew there had been a body, maybe it had been a murder." Kinnear said a neighbor told her how they smelled a "wicked" odor emanating from next door when the bodies were first discovered. Another neighbor said her son had seen the family remove the suitcases from the trailer and noticed them standing back in a state of shock following the chilling discovery.
The mother of the two children was arrested in South Korea in September 2021 on two counts of murder after Interpol issued an arrest warrant. The 42-year-old reportedly denied the killings as she was taken away by officers, shouting, "I didn't do it.". After her arrest, detectives revealed she had flown back to the country in 2018 after her husband, the children's father, died from cancer the year before.
As per the cops, the couple were both from Seoul and were married in New Zealand. Police also confirmed the identities of the children, but have not released any details to the public. After the bodies of the hildren were found, Detective Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Vaaelua said the coroner had issued an interim non-publication order at the family's request.
He said, "This order suppresses the names of the children and their relatives and evidence that may lead to the identification of the two victims. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the children."
