Study shows best city for singles in the US has more than 55% of residents flying solo
BUFFALO, NEW YORK: Being single may not be such a bad thing if you live in Buffalo, New York. Studies from a recent research conducted by the Thriving Center of Psychology have revealed that Buffalo is one of the best cities for single people to live in the USA. The western New York metropolis boasts of being home to the most single women per capita of any city in the country, while being home to ninth most number of single men as well. Overall, the city has the third most single people as compared to other cities.
The study was done by Lending Tree. Many of these singles seem to love the favourable conditions that the city provides them in the dating ring, according to the Daily Mail. “When it comes to casual dating, there isn’t much effort that needs to be put in,” a resident of the city had said. The city's single people seem to enjoy the ease with which they are able meet and mingle with people while living “your life like you normally do.” However, there have been some instances when this lack of effort became a turn off as well. A person revealed an unsavoury experience she had with a date that took lack of effort too far and did not even bother with dressing up for the night out.

'Most friendly to singles’
Speaking about the incident, the woman reportedly said, “[The ladies] got dressed up for a triple date, heels, makeup, all of that. But we did not go out because one of the men decided to wear sweatpants and wasn’t allowed into the club we were going to.” However, with more than 55.4% of its residents flying solo, Buffalo residents have nothing to worry about - you can always meet someone new.
What attracts young people to Buffalo?
Buffalo is favored highly for it affordability, which is a primary worry amongst youngsters. Costs of living for those in Buffalo is an astounding 39% lesser than the entire New York state average, and interestingly, 5% lesser than the rest of the country. The affordability also allows for people to find their own places, rather than having to bunk up and share.
“You don’t need someone to split your rent with you,” a residents reportedly said, adding, “I’ve lived alone now for seven years and I couldn’t imagine even living with a partner.” With the high number of single people in the city, there is an agreement amongst them about the lessened pressure as well. “There isn’t a ton of pressure to settle down,” some of the people said, adding, “There are a lot of young single people just focusing on themselves.”
