Star of the Netflix show 'MeatEater', Steven Rinella, has spent the better part of his 47-year-old life in the great outdoors. The wild does not intimidate this out-and-out hunter whose enthusiasm for angling, noodling, and spearfishing is as great as his love for hunting wild game, and he has spent years perfecting himself as a nimrod. Rinella was born to huntsman Frank J Rinella and Rosemary Johnson on February 13, 1974. He was introduced to the wild and given a taste of the outdoors and its many adventures along with his two elder brothers Daniel and Matthew by their late father.

Steven's love for fishing too started at a very young age. For the uninitiated, he was just three years old when he learned how to fish, and even though his Netflix show majorly focuses on him slicing up wild game, he hasn't let go of his passion for being in the waters to look out for some fresh catch, according to the many posts on his Instagram feed. Rinella describes himself as an "avid outdoorsman, conservationist, writer, and founder of MeatEater" that he insists is #fueledbynature. His show is the pioneer for bringing hunting and fishing in the mainstream entertainment genre following which a number of other shows for instance, 'Wicked Tuna', 'Duck Dynasty', 'Big Deer TV', 'Off the Hook: Extreme Catches' made it to TV.

'MeatEater' is extremely graphic in nature, it is for good reason that Netflix has an 'animal harm' warning for it. Steven Rinella and his hunting mates are seen shooting down animals in the wild. The sight of blood on iced-out land is a bit too much to take in as a viewer, but for Rinella and his mates, it's food. In one of the episodes, Rinella cut up the area surrounding the eye of a freshly-hunted moose to access the fat that lies just behind it and offered it to his hunt buddy to eat raw, and described the taste of it as pizza dough. He then cooked the meat using the fat from its marrow. Rinella has faced a lot of naysayers in his career for the graphic nature of his show, however, there's another section of people who have appreciated his work as a conservationist. According to a Cinemaholic report, Rinella has always insisted and advocated that he's a protector and has done more than most of the people from the hunting community to conserve species that are feared to go extinct.

Spending his time in the jungles and dedicating his life towards conservation in no way has affected Rinella's pockets. His show has returned to Netflix season after season after being received with a lot of acclaim from the audience since it started airing in 2012.
