DIY costume ideas for Star Wars Day

1. Ruth Vader Ginsburg

The costume idea of Ruth Vader Ginsburg is a perfect example of a last-minute pun costume. It only requires a Vader mask, a judge's robe, and some added embellishments. This costume is not only effortless to create but can also be worn by both men and women.

2. Lowkey Aayla Secura

If you're seeking a sexy Star Wars costume that doesn't involve dressing up as Slave Leia and have grown up to reconsider the problematic implications of that character, consider going as Lowkey Aayla Secura. To transform into the calm and collected Twi'lek Jedi, all you need is some blue hair spray, blue face paint, a blue lightsaber, and a pigtail braid. To complete the look, wear a brown crop top or sports bra with brown leggings or even jeans.

3. Force Ghost

Create a last-minute Star Wars costume by combining a simple Jedi robe with a classic Halloween sheet ghost. All you need to do is throw on a bathrobe and use a white sheet to cover your body, making sure to cut out holes for your eyes and mouth. Add a lightsaber to complete the look and impress your fellow fans. For a more authentic feel, use a blue sheet to create a Force Ghost look.

3 movies to watch this Star Wars Day

1. Star Wars: A New Hope (1977)

The inaugural installment of the Star Wars saga, 'A New Hope', established the audience to the infamous tyrannical Galactic Empire, the Rebel Alliance's mission to obliterate the Empire's latest weapon, and Luke Skywalker's journey to discovering the ways of "the Force" while being embroiled in the conflict.

2. The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

Paying tribute to 'The Empire Strikes Back' is a must on Star Wars Day as it continues to be a fan-favorite film that set the bar for all subsequent movies in the franchise. Directed by Irvin Kershner, it offered an array of elements that thrilled viewers such as a gripping plot, epic lightsaber battles, intriguing planets, unique extraterrestrial life, imposing Imperial walkers, and unforgettable emotional scenes.

3. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

While some fans noted similarities to 'A New Hope', 'The Force Awakens' was praised for its ability to incorporate familiar elements into a fresh and exhilarating story. The film introduced new planets, aliens, and unique lightsaber designs. However, the biggest addition was the introduction of new heroes: Rey, Finn, and Poe. Additionally, BB-8, a new droid, quickly became a beloved character among fans.
