The first four episodes of ‘Star Trek: Picard’ Season 2 saw Jean-Luc and the team finding a way to the past and then tracking down the mysterious being known as the Watcher. The team had to do all of this so that they could foil Q’s plan of changing the future and it was all the groundwork that the show did for the first four weeks, that finally paid off with the previous week’s episode.

Episode 5 of Season 2 was undoubtedly the best of this season and it felt like the show is moving in the direction where the fans wanted it to. Now, we know that Picard’s ancestor, Renee Picard, is the key to everything and Q wants her to change the future. The team entered a gala that has been organized for the astronauts going on a voyage. Jurati is now captured in the control room of the venue’s security. But that was a part of the plan because now Jurati is close to the security systems, but after shooting the Borg Queen, she came too close to her and the Borg transferred her consciousness into Jurati's mind.

Episode 6 will see the entire team wearing the finest of costumes to enter a swanky gala in the hopes of keeping Renee safe. Renee is an astronaut and it turns out she is one of the key figures of the upcoming Europa mission that will be responsible for finding sentient life in the universe. The team has to make sure that this mission gets accomplished because if it doesn’t, then it will turn the future into a dystopian nightmare.

Rios understands the seriousness of the mission and tells Jurati how important it is for them to protect Renee. He feels that if they fail then they (Rios and Jurati future) might not end up together because of all the timeline changes. Meanwhile, Jurati has completely changed after the incident with the Queen. The Borg is now a part of her and it seems she is telling her to do things that Jurati might not have done on her own.

Elsewhere, Picard has taken the matter into his own hands and is closely monitoring Renee’s movements during the gala. However, things are going to get intense for Picard and the team because someone would attack Picard during the ceremony, leaving him unconscious on the floor. Who attacked him? Was it Q? Or was it the venue’s security?

Also, we have to realize that Dr Adam Soong has also joined Q in order to defeat Picard and the team and he is willing to bend every rule to keep his daughter alive. We’ll get to know why Q has chosen a person like Soong for his mission.

'Star Trek: Picard' Season 2 returns to Paramount+ with a new episode every Thursday.
