Imagine every episode of 'Black Mirror' when it used to be a primarily UK show, cluster it up and put them all in the plot of that one Season 4 episode that had left us all rattled: 'Hang the DJ', and voila! We have the plot of AMC's upcoming anthology - the first-of-its-kind from the network, titled 'Soulmates'.

In 2017, Black Mirror's Season 4, Episode 4 'Hang the DJ' introduced us to the futuristic world of dating where signing up for a system, partners you with a person who's supposed to be your soulmate. In a tech-savvy world, a tech proofed romance seems ultra-convenience, but here's the catch: the system also reveals the exact amount of time you will be together with the person, following which you must part ways never to meet again or the system bites back. Such are the cons of living in the world of 'Black Mirror'.

In AMC's 'Soulmates', six different stories come together through a similar test that picks the titular one and only soulmate for the subject. With a star-studded cast that sees the likes of Charlie Heaton, Bill Skarsgård, Betsy Brandt, Sarah Snook and even the Malin Ackerman, and more, the series seems nothing short of a dating nightmare but then again, what real life dating scenario isn't.

In a sneak peek from the first episode of the debut season, Snook's character Nick can be seen arriving to her brother's wedding reception with two kids and a husband. Nick and her man look like they've been together for a while, and while her brother goes on and on about finding his "soulmate" and marrying her within two weeks into getting tested, Nick is blatantly skeptical about the idea. The trailer also hints that she will take the test sometimes in the long run after denial lifts and she admits the romance in her marriage has fizzled. But what exactly is this test that will figure out her real soulmate?

Based on the official trailer, the characters go through these innate tests that involve a bunch of very personal and up-close examinations to certify their soulmate who could literally be the person you can't absolutely stand. With the person, you loathe being designated as your soulmate, thrill and action rise in the drama that is but a glaring and satirical portrayal of 'Modern Love' - another recent anthology that AMC's upcoming sci-fi thriller bears a strong resemblance with.

According to the official synopsis of the anthology, "Soulmates is set 15 years into the future when science has made a discovery that changes the lives of everyone on the planet – a test that unequivocally tells you who your soulmate is." One look at the trailer will reveal this world of dating is not something one would eagerly jump into, but at the same time, can easily be swayed and tempted by. Will they? Won't they? That remains the question!

Watch this futuristic world of dating fall apart and unravel on 'Soulmates' premiering on Monday, October 5, at 10/9c, only on AMC.
