Discussing questions about Kohberger, a user wrote on Reddit, "Mine is motive, but I kinda assume he just really wanted to do it if I had to guess. Also, I'm super curious to see what they find in his apartment/on his computer. I think a lot of that will be very telling." Another user said, "Tbh I really look forward to know more about the chronology! Like what he did before, during and after the murder. Honestly I keep wondering how he was able to leave the house without being covered in blood." "I’m curious if his family suspected anything. His career path, proximity to the crime, and reported weird personality. Why did his dad fly out to drive back with him?" yet another added to the discussion.
"Where is the murder weapon? Did he leave it at the crime scene, apt, university office, parent’s home, or tried to ditch it after committing the crime, or en route to parents home?" one user wrote, while another said, "What or who is he going to miss the most while incarcerated? And, will he plead guilty to try and get only life instead of the death penalty? Assuming a conviction, how will he react to the victim statements coming his way?" One said, "I keep wondering how he was able to leave the house without being covered in blood".
Kohberger was reportedly charged with four counts of murder in the first degree as well as felony burglary in connection with the deaths of the four students. Investigators have not publicly confirmed a motive for the murders. He is a PhD student in Washington State University’s Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology and is said to have lived just minutes from the scene of the crime.
