'Snowfall' is all set to premiere with Season 5 on FX this February. The critically-acclaimed series that began in 2017 has been a major hit with the audience. Rotten Tomatoes rated it a healthy 87% with the audience score at a solid 93%. Four seasons in, the crime drama is set during the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles and the impact it has on the generation at that point. The show follows various characters including Franklin Saint, a young street entrepreneur on a quest to become a larger-than-life figure.

Other key characters include Gustavo "El Oso" Zapata (Sergio Peris-Mencheta), a luchador who is caught up in a power struggle himself. Also playing pivotal roles are Carter Hudson as Teddy McDonald with a shady past. Quite simply, each of these characters is charting their own path to gain money, influence, and respect in a drug-riddled society in 1984 LA. Although in what appears to be a joke, there's a buzz that Denzel Washington would star in one of the episodes of the series and much about the news has to do with Damson Idris who plays Franklin.

Idris mentioned Washington during the show’s CTAM panel earlier this month and recollected the time he and the Academy-winning actor piqued interest together last year December. Per a Deadline report, someone brought up Idris to Washington at the red carpet premiere of 'A Journal For Jordan', but the actor had no recollection of Idris.

"He called me, he’s going to be in Season 6 as the villain," Idris joked when asked if the actor could potentially appear in the FX series. “No, [he won’t be]. Denzel is my idol and he’s a giant in this industry. I’ll never have anything bad to say about him. I just hope he watches Snowfall this season." It would have made for an amazing storyline if Washington indeed appeared in a cameo in the hit series, but for now, all we can do is hope that a potential season 6 might see most fans' wishes come true.

The synopsis of 'Snowfall' Season 6 reads, "It's the summer of 1986 in the fifth season of Snowfall. Franklin Saint (Damson Idris) and his entire family are rich beyond their wildest dreams, on the verge of having everything they've ever wanted…right as the ground begins to fall out from under their feet."

"The sudden and tragic death of basketball star Len Bias makes the rock cocaine epidemic front-page news, the target of both Democrat and Republican lawmakers. Law enforcement is on a warpath and the militarization of the L.A.P.D. continues as police and politicians decide the only way to deal with this growing scourge is through force — and the creation of the new C.R.A.S.H. (Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums) units. The streets of South Central Los Angeles have never been so dangerous as the Saint family navigates the police, the warring gangs and the CIA."

'Snowfall' Season 5 premieres on February 23 at 10 pm ET on FX.
