'The Man Who Fell To Earth' Episode 2: Faraday moves mountains to save his planet
Faraday is the alien from planet Athena. He's here for one cause alone. To save his planet from being destroyed in the next two and a half years and subsequently save Earth, which is doomed to perish in 2030. For this reason, Origen, Justin, and the fuel to build the project that Thomas Newton was trying to build in the early 1980s, is vital.
Faraday heads to Origen. He asks the team to show him Newton's original designs and that leads him to a research lab. He's reminded of Newton's words about wanting to steal the company back. He instantly gets to work and starts working with the team. He is seen to be too harsh with the humans as he is unaware of how humans need a break. But, in the end, the team finishes up and they have a beautiful cage made to shield anyone in it from electromagnetic waves.
However, Faraday isn't satisfied with the result and feels like there's a missing piece in the puzzle. He learns that the fuel needed to build the actual machine and carry forward the experiment is Tritium and that is a scarce resource. The metal that was collected by Thomas in the 1980s is a waste as this metal has a shelf life of only twelve and a half years. Now he's left to solve the whole mystery and accomplish this goal of saving two planets all by himself.
But lucky for him, he has Watt's imagination to rely on. Watt, a former employee of Newton, helps him after spending an evening getting drunk at the bar and discussing the 'romantic relationship' between planet Earth and planet Athena. He realizes there's more to the story than what meets the eye. He understands that life is just one big game of Russian roulette of unleashing the 'inner human' without it killing you.
He then heads straight to the lab and figures out the solution to build the machine. Once he figures it out, he visits Justin and she tells him she knows how to get an alternative to the fuel they are in short of. Justin now has to solve the equation to find an alternative to the scarce fuel.
