FORT WORTH, TEXAS: A video of two women basketball players brawling has gone viral on the internet after a player’s hand reportedly got entangled in another’s hair. The bizarre incident happened at the Schollmaier Arena in Texas’ Fort Worth on Monday night, December 5, when Texas Christian University (TCU) and George Washington University were playing during a regular-season game.

As per reports, the scuffle began when Washington's Essence Brown appeared to accidentally pull TCU's senior Bella Cravens’ hair while attempting to get the ball. The 22-year-old Cravens immediately lost her temper as she furiously went on to confront Brown, which resulted in a wild fistfight.

Viral footage of the brawl has shown the two players having a violent confrontation as Cravens first pushed Brown. Soon more players from both the teams joined the face off while others tried to break up the fight. The Daily Mail reported that “officials quickly put the kibosh on the unannounced scrimmage, and Cravens' Horned Frogs managed a 70-56 win.” The publication also added, “Cravens and Brown, both seniors, were among the eight ejected following the flareup.”

Later, TCU's head coach, Raegan Pebley, spoke about the incident as she reportedly said, “We never want to be a part of anything like that. It doesn't matter to me one bit who started it, who said what, it doesn't matter, we don't ever want to be a part of anything like that.”

Meanwhile, the episode has attracted a lot of comments online with a user saying, “Hair is too long it gets in the way. It should be tied up.” The second user commented, “Accidental or not, long hair should be tied up top of head or in bun. Should have been required before game started.” The third one wrote, “Oh wooooow… Well, at least no one got hurt… lmao.” The fourth one joked, “I love how the ref just backs up and lets it keep going.”

Another person said, “Wearing long hair down during a game has risks as she found out. Gaining control over the ball is the goal. Her hair wrapped around the player's arm, as she was going for the ball. Her fingers are facing outward toward the ball.” Another person shared, “It wasn’t bad behavior if her hand got caught in the woman’s hair. But I agree, lately in women’s basketball there’s way too much fighting and violence. No place for it.” “This is a physical sport which most players play with passion. This will happen regardless if it was intentional or not. It was handled correctly and the game was finished!” another person chimed in.

A tweet read, “Shows how civility is no longer part of sports. Violence at all levels is apparent and that falls on coaches. If it’s a foul let the refs handle. Players need to stop this street level solution.” Another tweet was “Looks like she was swatting at the ball and the girls hair is too long. Her fingers were probably caught in it. Shouldn’t be playing with your hair down. In high school they make you braid it.”
