'She Is Not Your Daughter' Review: Alicia Leigh Willis packs a punch in Lifetime's intriguing thriller
In recent years, Lifetime has become one of the most reliable networks for telling stories that are engaging and well-conceptualized. So, it doesn’t come as a shock that it is one of the most-watched TV networks in the US and continues to grow every single month. The network’s latest offering ‘She Is Not Your Daughter’ is one of the examples of why people love to watch movies produced by Lifetime.
Directed by Jeff Hare, the movie focuses on a family who has been living their lives to the fullest. Liza (Alicia Leigh Willis), Bob (Jon Briddell), and their daughter May (Emily Topper) are very close and celebrate joyous moments together. However, things turn upside down when someone tries to ruin their lives by exposing a secret. The parents start getting worried for their daughter and that’s when Bob tells why this is happening. Liza is stunned to know the truth and starts panicking. So, what is the secret? And why does that both Liza so much? Although we get to know about the secret in the first 40 minutes of the movie and know why the parents are being threatened, the way it has been shown on the screen is really good.

As far as ‘She Is Not Your Daughter’ is concerned, the title gives away half of the suspense but that doesn’t mean that the movie is short of twists and turns. Like I said before, Lifetime has been pretty successful in telling intriguing stories, and ‘She Is Not Your Daughter’ is a good addition to that list. The writing is crisp and makes you realize how greed can be so lethal and turn you into a monster that you never were. The brightest aspect of the movie is its acting performances. Every major actor in the film has done a phenomenal job, especially Alicia Leigh Willis. The actress portrays the character of Liza in the movie and gives a nuanced performance that will make you feel so bad for her. However, her transition from an emotional mother to a woman who can do anything for her child is really impressive and Willis does a great job of convincing viewers that she is a force to be reckoned with.
Jon Briddell as Bob is amazing as well while Liza Long and Katelin Chesna are brilliant as well. On the other hand, Emily Topper has once again shown us why she is one of the brightest young talents working in Hollywood right now and should be given more and more chances. Brilliant acting by the young star.
All in all, ‘She Is Not Your Daughter’ is the typical Lifetime crime-thriller that will keep you hooked to your screens and encourage you to applaud the actors for their impeccable skills.
