DAVID BECKHAM STOLE MY EGGS! 'Delusional' stalker Sharon Bell has left soccer star 'intimidated'
A court was told that the soccer star felt “threatened and frightened” by her “targeted and intimidating” behavior.
A stalker caused soccer star David Beckham to feel "threatened and frightened" after claiming she had a fling with him and that his daughter Harper is their lovechild. A British woman and Hertfordshire resident Sharon Bell believes the former England football captain stole her eggs and that Harper, the youngest of Beckham's four children with wife Victoria, is her biological daughter. The Westminster Magistrates Court was told that the star felt “threatened and frightened” by her “targeted and intimidating” behavior. Bell, 58, is charged with stalking amounting to harassment and is also subject to an interim Stalking Prevention Order that bans her from contacting the Beckham family.
Who is Sharon Bell?
The 58-year-old Sharon Bell, of Boundary Way, Watford, Hertfordshire, allegedly turned up at the Beckhams' luxury homes in Oxford and London on July 9 and September 9 last year after sending letters revealing her plans to show up at their residence. She is also accused of going to see Harper at her school in November last year. Bell confessed the same to authorities and her psychiatrist, but has denied that her behavior amounts to harassment or put the world-famous athlete in serious fear and distress. Meanwhile, a judge has ordered a further psychiatric report to be prepared in order to understand whether the case can be decided on mental health grounds. David and Victoria Beckham will not have to face Bell making the "bizarre" claims to them in court should the case go to full trial. The couple's evidence will be read out instead, Lincolnshire Live reported.
“The prosecution's case is that the defendant was at all times stalking David Beckham and, by proxy, Victoria Beckham," prosecutor Arizuna Asante said. "The main thrust of the allegation is that she has said to police and her psychiatrist that she was in a relationship with David Beckham, that he stole her eggs and Harper Beckham is her legitimate child. David Beckham felt threatened and frightened for the safety of his family and that his family believe that her behavior was targeted and intimidating. He says he doesn’t know the defendant and that she is not the mother of his child. That is going to be disputed by the defense as a trial issue." Asante added, “Allowing her to question the Beckhams would amount to further harassment and intimidation.”
That said, the defendant wasn't present in court for the 40-minute hearing. “The question is going to be ‘did you knowingly steal Ms Bell’s eggs?’" Bell's lawyer Lisa Wilson said. “We are proposing that this is an insane belief, but if the court found she is not insane the court would have to consider whether or not her case is right.”
District Judge Michael Snow said, “What is clearly an absolutely bizarre assertion that her eggs were stolen and that their child is her child. Anyone who is even vaguely familiar with science or biology can see that this is clearly a delusional assertion. If I allowed Ms. Bell to question the Beckhams, it would amount to further harassment of the Beckham family. David Beckham would be asked about the theft of something which is frankly impossible to steal." The judge added, “It is in the interests of justice for the statements of David and Victoria Beckham to be read.”
Now, a further hearing is scheduled to decide how the case proceeds. One psychiatrist report claims Bell is fit to plead while another says she isn't. A third report will thus be presented to make a final decision. If she's found mentally fit for trial, the court proceedings will commence on July 12. Meanwhile, an interim Stalking Prevention Order will remain in place until the end of the trial, the outcome of which will determine whether the order is made permanent.
