'No one buys that crap': 'Shark Tank' fans call Tia Lupita Foods 'generic product with special label'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On the April 14 episode of 'Shark Tank,' an entrepreneur from Tiburon, California, pitched Tia Lupita Foods, a handcrafted Mexican food company. Even though the founder received a less-than-ideal deal, people were quick to criticize the program for giving a platform to 'generic' items.
Season 14, episode 20 of ABC's 'Shark Tank' welcomed entrepreneur Hector Saldivar, who presented Tia Lupita Foods. Tia Lupita Foods is a Mexican-inspired business that incorporates traditional recipes and ingredients into its unique and healthful product range. Tia Lupita, Hector's mother, is the brand's namesake, and her beloved family recipes have been passed down through generations. The firm is dedicated to providing tasty and nutritious food alternatives that celebrate Mexico's love, culture, and flavors.

Kevin cuts a sweet deal
Hector entered the Tank wanting $500,000 for a 5% stake in Tia Lupita Foods. Tia Lupita Foods is dedicated to utilizing only the best quality, natural ingredients in all of its products while never sacrificing flavor. Because of the brand's emphasis on health and well-being, healthy and delicious goods have been developed, making them a popular choice among health-conscious consumers. The sauces come in four flavors: Hot Sauce, Salsa Verde, Habanero sauce, and Chipotle; each costs $13.99. Tortilla Chips in five flavors, Sea Salt, Salsa Verde, Habanero, Hot Sauce, and Chipotle, are also available for $5.99. Their corn tortillas cost $8.99 for 10 pieces. The firm also sells two Variety Packs for $43.94, the Classic Variety Pack and the Grain-Free Variety Pack.
The Sharks were immediately smitten by the product. Even though Hector had decent sales figures to back himself, few people were encouraged to invest as they didn't see much prospect for the brand to grow in such a competitive market. In an unexpected change of events, Shark Kevin O'Leary made an offer. Hector refused Kevin's offer since he couldn't accept letting go of that much equity. Following the rejection of his counteroffer, the pair agrees to a non-dilutable counteroffer.
'Limit this salt'
Fans bored to see the same generic product on the show as well as in the market tweeted, "I like Tortillas I get the Tostitos brand here with Salsa Very competitive but Walmart has many displays all over the stores They get in Costco with multi packs I pay $3.00 Canadian for large back 455 grams it's addictive :) limit this salt." Seeing not much prospect in the business due to its competitive nature, a user wrote, "Kevin is putting a lot on the line." Blaming the Sharks for getting the hopes high of the entrepreneurs, a fan wrote, "All there poor dreamers are going to lose their homes and their cars and ultimately their businesses. I know the sharks sometimes bully people who keep their jobs while working on their products but sometimes you need to consider your family and your financial safety." Calling the products generic, a fan tweeted, "No shit. Spend 10 minutes watching Shark Tank and discover 90% of all products are generic with a special label on it."

One disappointed fan took to Facebook to write, "Oh Lord, not another snack food made with "healthy" ingredients and grandma's secret recipe. It's hard as hell to get space on the grocery shelf and no one buys that crap anyway." While another chimed in saying, "Yea most people stick to what they know and same products."
