‘Shark Tank’: Misfit Foods grabs $300,000 deal, fans can't wait to taste ‘sweet potato chicken combo sausage’
Do you love plant-based food and meat alternatives? MisFit Foods could be ideal for you. Phil Wong, an entrepreneur from Brooklyn, New York, introduced his eco-friendly approach to sausage making on the latest episode of ‘Shark Tank’ and Sharks were sold on the idea. Pitching his product, Wong explained how they “unite veggies and humanely-raised meats to create complete delight for your taste buds.”
Wong faced Sharks Mark Cuban, Kevin O’Leary, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec and guest Shark Daniel Lubetzky but he created the product with his best friend Ann Yang, who later gave up on the company.

Seeking an investment of $250,000 for a 5% stake, Wong negotiated with the Sharks and many of them gave him good offers. Lori Greiner offered $250,000 for an 18% stake. It was only when Mark Cuban teamed up with Daniel Lubetzky that the tables turned. They first offered $250,000 for a 15% stake. When Wong asked for a $300,000 investment, they agreed and grabbed the deal.
After the deal, Daniel Lubetzky joked, “What will my wife say when she hears Mark Cuban and I tied the knot?” He also posted, “It doesn't fully come across after editing, but Phil demonstrated SO much integrity in the way he discussed managing his business. A big reason why I was motivated to work with him is because I could tell that he genuinely strives to do the right thing.”

Many fans loved the idea. “As wellness practitioner people are looking for transitional foods. Market to those ppl. I dislike plain and boring flexatarian food. I'd buy sweet potato/ chicken combo sausage. Why not? Get'em Phil,” one said and another posted, “So where does one buy those Sweet Potato & Chicken sausages? His flavour combos are actually quite interesting.”
A third wondered, “Can those sausages be put on the grill? That might taste better if I can grill them,” and a fourth added, “I don't know Sharks, the different flavors like lime & squash would draw my attention.”
