'Shadowhunters' season 3 episode 15 preview: 'The Night Children' have a hard time with rules and confrontations
There isn't a single episode without a giant action packed development, but the next one might take the trophy for how complex everything is going to get for the Shadowhunters
Spoiler Alert for 'Shadowhunters' season 3B.
While fans might be recovering from the ever so intense hangover of 'Shadowhunters' episode 14, the promo trailer for the next episode isn't really helping with the whole impatience it has triggered, thanks to the jaw-dropping action the video teased. Ever since the second half of the third and final season of the show has returned, there hasn't been a single episode without a giant action-packed development. But by the looks of it, this soon-to-arrive one might take the trophy for how complex everything is going to get.
The official synopsis of the episode titled 'To the Night Children' describes it as: "As the saying goes, rules are made to be broken. But what if the rules are there for a reason? Several members of the team must examine the reasoning behind certain rules after consequences to questionable actions come to light. Whether the rules were broken because of love, loyalty or revenge, does the end justify the means?"
The first and foremost rule being alluded to here is about the Downworlders not being allowed to stay in the New York Institute of Shadowhunters, which currently the former High Warlock of Brooklyn — Magnus Bane — will be seen breaking into in the next episode. Having traded his own apartment in exchange for magical powers, Magnus (Harry Shum Jr.) has moved in with his boyfriend, Alec Lightwood (Matthew Daddario) and we are about to see more glimpses of the recently turned homely couple enjoying cuddles and breakfast in bed. Even though Magnus addresses the elephant in the room — which is him, being a Downworlder, currently living in the Institute — Alec promptly corrects him that the rule is more of a suggested one and Magnus is on an extended stay here.
Boyfriend goals? But it is not going to be a smooth ride because the trailer shows the Shadowhunters judging Magnus as he walks around the Institute campus and he has a hard time settling in. The other rule that is being broken currently could be the showdown amongst the Downworlders that we saw in episode 13. With Heidi walking around freely, manipulating vampires and werewolves against one another, The Clave is suffering a major loss as fights break out, and men from The Guard mysteriously keep dying. Alec's sister, Izzy (Emeraude Toubia) has already asked for his help in digging deeper into what's going on with The Clave, and the trailer for episode 15 begins with him addressing the issue — hinting that this is exactly 'how wars start.'
The next scene shows newly appointed alpha werewolf, Maia Roberts (Alisha Wainwright) claiming that she herself will kill Heidi if need be, while former alpha of the pack, Luke Garroway (Isaiah Mustafa) is spending time in the lockup. It's crisis time for pretty much everyone, but we are just happy to see Clary back to her former self after the unexpected dark detour she took in episode 14. In the coming episode, Clary is back to advising Luke on how to deal with the crisis he has landed himself in, saying he must not take the blame upon himself, but Luke is adamant about the consequences he must face.
However, the kind and compassionate avatar isn't the only side of Clary we'll get to see in the upcoming episode, as she also gets into her kickass fighter form and has a face-off with Aline, who wants to confront her for letting her evil twin, Jonathan Morgenstern (Luke Baines) leave unharmed from New York. The previous episode showed Clary reaching out to Jonathan claiming she misses their time together, so it's quite confusing right now whether she is nice Clary, or dark Clary considering she takes on Aline so readily, without even trying to defend herself.
'Shadowhunters' returns with episode 15 on Monday, March 25, at 8/7c, only on Freeform.
