Who is Elyse Buxbaum? Scott Stringer's marriage under scrutiny after groping allegation against mayor candidate
A former intern for New York City comptroller and mayoral candidate Scott Stringer accused the politician of sexual abuse and harassment on Tuesday, April 27. Even though Stringer has released a statement denying the allegations, all eyes are on his wife Elyse Buxbaum to see her reaction to the charges.
The unidentified woman, who claims to have worked as an unpaid intern when Stringer was in the Assembly more than a decade ago, has alleged that he groped and touched her sexually without consent when he was a member of the New York Assembly and running for Public Advocate of NYC. He’d allegedly offered to get the woman a role as a district leader. The woman, then an unpaid intern, accused him of telling her to keep the alleged sexual misconduct a secret. An attorney who represents the alleged victim says they plan to offer more details Wednesday, April 28.
Meanwhile, Stringer released the following statement: “I firmly believe that all survivors of harassment have the right to come forward. I will reserve further comment until this person has had the opportunity to share their story. For now, let me say without equivocation: these allegations are untrue and do not reflect my interactions with anyone, including any woman or member of my staff.”
