Sam Williams: Singer Hank Williams Jr's son put in conservatorship by dad and step-sister
Country star Hank Williams Jr's musician son Sam Williams recently shared a video with a desperate appeal to his fans — to free him from the conservatorship his father placed him in. Sam, 24, posted a silent video on YouTube with a series of handwritten signs where he said, "I want out". Reportedly, Sam Williams was placed under a conservatorship by father Hank and half-sister Holly around 18 months ago.
The incident traces back to the tragic death of Sam Williams' sister Katherine Williams-Dunning, who was killed in a car crash in June 2020. Shortly afterward, Sam was forced into a conservatorship under the pretext of protection. In his silent video, the young musician lashed out at his family saying, "I've been quiet a long time now. I want out of this, and I don't mind people knowing. They took my grief process, my spirit, my money, my car, my home, and everything possible in order to "protect me." Well, I need protection from them." The YouTube video was later taken down for unknown reasons.

Who is Sam Williams?
Sam Williams is the youngest son of country music star Hank Williams Jr. and former model Mary Jane Thomas. The couple has been married since 1990, and share two children — Sam and Katherine (Katie), who died in a fatal car accident at the age of 27. Sam is also the grandson of the legendary country music pioneer Hank Williams.
Sam Williams has earned recognition as a fusion artist, whose music is inspired by modern pop as well as the classic country. He released his first EP 'Looking for What's Coming' in 2016 at just the age of 19 years. His debut album 'Glasshouse Children' was released in 2021, shortly after the death of his beloved older sister Katie. The album earned accolades, especially for the song 'Happy All The Time' featuring Dolly Parton. He has also collaborated with singer Keith Urban and songwriters like Jim Lauderdale, Lori McKenna, and Mary Gauthier.
In his latest YouTube video, Sam Williams further went on to express his grief and desperation about his sister's death. He also shared that he was embarrassed and ashamed of his own family.
"I have worked my broken heart to quits since my dear Katie left for Home. I do not deserve this. This is a scary step but I don't see what else to do here. I am ashamed of my family and embarrassed. I am beyond done. I have my spirit back. Get. Me. Out. Please," Sam shared in his silent appeal. He later also tweeted to inform his fans that he was in a conservatorship.
Court documents obtained by TMZ revealed that Hank Williams Jr filed a petition for an emergency conservatorship for Sam in August 2020.
