Facebook's streaming platform, Watch and Blumhouse decided to mingle ‘The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly’ written by Stephanie Oaks and the ‘Handless Maiden’ by the Grimm Brothers to give viewers the enthralling first season of 'Sacred Lies' in 2018. Two years later, the forum is gearing up to present us with 'Sacred Lies: The Singing Bones' - yet another installment of true crime stories, like Minnow's story in Season 1, as transformed by Raelle Tucker. Rumour has it, things are going to twist and turn even more in the second season, as the show undertakes yet another Grimm tale, 'The Singing Bones' and chronicles a young woman's quest to find her family.

Release date

The second season of 'Sacred Lies', titled 'Sacred Lies: The Singing Bones' will premiere on Thursday, February 20, at 12pm PT/3 pm ET, only on Facebook Watch.

Plot

According to the official synopsis: "The second season of the anthology series will feature a new cast and a storyline that draws inspiration from a story collected from the Brothers Grimm, 'The Singing Bone', as well as real-life murder cases. This season of 'Sacred Lies' follows Elsie (Jordan Alexander) as she searches for the family she never knew after being abandoned as a child. The search leads her to her father, Peter (Ryan Kwanten), an inmate who may be guilty of more than the crimes he’s currently incarcerated for and Harper (Juliette Lewis), a telemarketer turned arm-chair detective with an obsessive hobby of searching for unidentified murder victims. Kristin Bauer will recur as Elsie’s foster mother, Shannon."

Creator

'Sacred Lies: The Singing Bones' comes from Blumhouse Television - the same people who have blessed us with some of the most iconic horror franchises like 'The Purge' and 'Paranormal Activity'. Serving as executive producer and showrunner will be Season 1's Raelle Tucker, who has also worked on shows like 'True Blood', 'The Returned', 'Jessica Jones'.

Cast

The series stars Juliette Lewis ('Ma', 'The Act') as Harper, Ryan Kwanten ('The Oath', 'True Blood') as Peter, newcomer Jordan Alexander as Elsie, and Kristin Bauer ('Once Upon A Time', 'True Blood') as Shannon. Additionally, Kimiko Glenn ('Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse', 'Orange is the New Black'), Antonique Smith ('Luke Cage'), Siobhan Williams ('Deadly Class', 'Welcome to Marwen'), Emily Alyn Lind ('Doctor Sleep', 'Code Black'), and Odiseas Georgiadis ('Trinkets') will appear in recurring roles.

Trailer

The trailer for Season 2 begins with the pop-culture invested concept of Jane Does - or unidentified women who went missing before their bodies turned up. Blumhouse has done their best once again at crafting a trailer so articulately that there's no looking away from the screen. There's that ominous eerieness of Paranormal Activity blended with the realistic, spine-chilling gore that the production house is known for. Check out the trailer here:
