Dandrae Martin: Sacramento shooting suspect flaunted guns in music videos, rapped about ‘cutting up’
SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA: Dandrae Martin, a 26-year-old aspiring rapper who was arrested in connection with the Sacramento mass shooting on Sunday, appears to have been posting on social media about the incident just hours after it occurred. Multiple shooters opened fire downtown early Sunday morning, killing six people and leaving 12 others injured.
Martin was arrested on charges of assault with a firearm and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, police said. Cops are still investigating whether he opened fire first or was responding to the gunfire.

Martin has uploaded videos to his YouTube account where he's known as Dredamacc, according to a Daily Beast report. His Soundcloud username is Dremac and the artist says he's from Sacramento and Phoenix.
In one of his videos titled 'Speaking on Me', a man is seen holding a semi-automatic gun. His track 'Cuttin Up' opens with the line "Slicing through traffic I’m cuttin’ up,” and in the background is the image of a man facing the wall as he holds a firearm. It is yet to be determined if the man holding the weapons in the videos is actually Martin.
Martin has not been charged with murder yet, but police said they were still sifting through information. “We’re looking for multiple suspects, and we’re currently working to identify what his role was the night of the shooting,” Sacramento Police Chief Kathy Lester told local NBC affiliate KCRA on Monday.
Monday’s arrest was not Martin’s first brush with the law. Martin reportedly pled guilty to domestic violence in 2014, for which he served 30 days behind bars and community service. Two years later, in 2016, he was charged with aggravated assault and domestic violence. He was sentenced to two and a half years in jail.
Sacramento shooting victims
Sunday’s shooting occurred around 2 a.m. amid a fight between a group of revelers outside a downtown bar. Police said multiple shooters opened fire but it remains unknown as to whether they knew each other. The shooters are suspected to be gang members.
The six people who were killed in the shooting have been identified: Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, 32, Devazia Turner, 29, Johntaya Alexander, 21, Melinda Davis, 57, Yamile Martinez-Andrade, 21, and Sergio Harris, 38.
One of the victims' Sergio Harris' mom, Pamela Harris, described her son as a “very vivacious young man". "Hopefully they’ll catch these people and prosecute them to the fullest. Because this was senseless. He has two young daughters that love him dearly, and he loved them. They’re not gonna see their father anymore."
After the shooting, California Gov. Gavin Newsom said on Twitter, “Yet another mass casualty shooting—leaving families with lost loved ones, people injured, and a community in grief. We are working closely with law enforcement to monitor the situation. We cannot continue to let gun violence be the new normal.”
