Chilling drone footage appears to show Russian soldiers gunning down an unarmed Ukrainian civilian who leaves his car with his hands up, as a woman and child watch. The footage that was obtained by German broadcaster ZDF also shows a woman and child, who were bystanders at the incident, being taken into the woods by the Russians.

A number of cars can be seen making sudden U-turns after spotting soldiers emerge from a tank parked on the edge of a highway heading to the heart of the capital, Kyiv.

While most of the cars speed off, one small silver-colored vehicle comes to a stop in front of another car that already appears to be riddled with bullets, ZDF noted.

The driver gets out and runs around his car with his hands clearly held high when he suddenly collapses, clutching his chest. Within seconds, some people run upto the car while the driver remains on the ground. ZDF later identified those people as heavily armed Russian soldiers wearing white bands.

ZDF said that the Russian forces can also be seen pulling a woman and child out of the car before they callously drag the driver's body to the side of the road and leave it in plain sight. The woman and child were led to woodland with the drone footage failing to capture what then happened to them. It did, however, show troops torching the car, the broadcaster said.

ZDF’s Arndt Ginzel tracked down the Ukrainian volunteer fighter who took the footage and said the time stamp and geo-tracking information all appeared to confirm it was genuine.

Drone operator Zanoza, a member of the Bugatti Company volunteer group, said he was filming the Russian tank on Monday last week as part of his work tracking the invading forces’ movements toward the capital. Zanoza said, "The cars had been heading toward the heart of the city when they saw the tank just after 2 pm," confirming that the troops and the tank had markings confirming they were Russian.

Russia has repeatedly denied targeting civilians in its so-called special military operation despite serious accusations of war crimes. Many allegations had been made against them for attacking civilians. Authorities in Ukraine have also accused Russian forces of bombing a theater as well as a pool facility in Mariupol on Wednesday, 16 March, where hundreds of civilians, including pregnant women and children, were taking refuge, thus killing and injuring many civilians.

Besides this, Russian forces have also been bombing many areas filled with civilians, like the bombing of a television tower outside the western city of Rivne on Tuesday, and the shelling of many residential buildings in Kyiv in the past few weeks.
