The video of a Russian soldier breaking down in tears is doing rounds on social media, as it is believed that the young fighter got emotional at the kindness of Ukrainians. In the video, the unnamed soldier can be seen surrounded by a group of Ukrainian women who offered him food and tea, after he laid down his weapons. It is being reported that he was among a group of Russian soldiers who surrendered to the Ukrainian resistance.

The heartbreaking video shows local Ukrainian women comforting the soldier, as he blew a kiss to his mom on call and then broke down into sobs. "These young men, it's not their fault. They don't know why they are here. They are using old maps, they are lost," a person can be heard saying in the background. The footage was originally shared by a Ukrainian citizen on Twitter, who noted, "Russian soldiers, surrender, Ukrainian people will feed you, just surrender."

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has urged Russian mothers to come to Kyiv and collect their sons, who had been taken prisoners of war. "'It was decided to give the captured Russian soldiers to their mothers if they come to Ukraine, to Kyiv for them," read the post, while it also provided an email address and phone numbers to find out if a soldier was 'in captivity or had died'.  "We Ukrainians, unlike Putin's fascists, do not fight mothers and their captive children. We are waiting for you in Kyiv!" read an official post.

Meanwhile, there are reports of Russian soldiers sabotaging their own military equipment in a bid to stop fighting in Putin's war. Radio messages intercepted from Russia hint that many troops are disobeying Kremlin's orders to bomb Ukrainian towns. They are also running out of food and fuel and complaining about the same, while some have resorted to looting in local Ukrainian towns.

Another viral video showed a group of Russian soldiers in tears after being taken prisoners, as they claimed they had no idea about being deputed into an active warzone. They revealed that they were used like "cannon fodder" by senior commanders who are waging war against "peaceful people defending their territory". "This is not our war. Mothers and wives, collect your husbands. There is no need to be here," an injured soldier shared.

A few days ago, another Russian soldier sent a haunting final text to his mother, moments before he died in the war. As the soldier's mother asked him where he, he told her, "I just want to hang myself now." He further added, “Mom, I’m in Ukraine. There is a real war raging here. I am afraid. We are bombing all of the cities, together. Even targeting civilians." He emotionally mentioned, "We were told that they would welcome us and they are falling under our armored vehicles, throwing themselves under the wheels and not allowing us to pass. They call us fascists. Mama, this is so hard.”
