The Russian beauty queen who married the King of Malaysia following a whirlwind romance last year has claimed that she was forced to pawn off her wedding ring after he abandoned her when she was four months pregnant with their son.

The 27-year-old Oksana Voevodina wed Malaysia's 50-year-old Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan in an extravagant ceremony in Russia in November last year, following which the king stepped down from his position as monarch and became the first-ever to abdicate the throne in the country.

However, their marriage spectacularly imploded since then, with Kelantan filing for divorce from Voevodina a few weeks after she gave birth to a baby boy in May.

Their divorce was officially registered on July 1, with the certificate indicating that it was done using a method known as "triple talaq", which is the most severe and irreversible form of divorce in Islam.

Voevodina and Kelantan have been embroiled in a public spat since then, with neither holding back against the other. The former has now come out to claim that the king "did not pay a dime" towards the cost of "his son".

Voevodina also claimed that she was so desperate for money to cover medical expenses, that she sold her precious Jacob Arabo ring for $248,000, which is three times lesser than its market value.

The 27-year-old confirmed to Daily Mail that she pawned the ring just before giving birth to the boy. "I won't say the price I sold it for, but it was three times less than its cost," she said. "I used this money to cover my medical bills in Switzerland as I was at risk of losing the baby."

She had reportedly borrowed money at the start to pay off hospital costs but realized that was no longer sustainable and was forced to sell the piece of jewelry.

"He abandoned her and she had to pay medical costs so she did not lose the baby," a friend revealed. "It was a real danger. So she was forced to pawn the ring."
