Russia's bloodletting continues as cluster bombs reportedly hit nursery school killing 16 children
Ukraine's invasion is turning more extreme by the day as Russia resorts to mass bombing and ruthless killing of civilians. After Russian forces carried out a series of deadly attacks with vacuum bombs and cluster bombs, it has also been reported that it bombed a nursery school. So far, the bombings and indiscriminate shootings have killed as many as 16 children and injured more than a hundred.
On Monday, February 28, Russian invaders dropped seven banned bombs on a school building that was sheltering many children and their parents. In the city of Okhtyrka, a seven-year-old child and two adults were killed in the shrapnel storm following a cluster bomb attack. Another child victim of ten years, Polina, was shot dead along with her parents as they attempted to flee Kyiv. The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court is now seeking to open an investigation into the civilian deaths, accusing Russia of war crimes.

An unnamed 14-year-old boy was also killed near Kharkiv when a rocket struck a block of flats in Chuguiv. A day prior, a six-year-old boy was killed in heavy gunfire near Western Kyiv, while another six-year-old girl lost her life in the airstrike. In fact, the shocking video of an angry doctor is doing rounds on social media which shows him failing to save a youngster as he cries out, “Show this to Putin. The eyes of this child, and crying doctors."
Polina, a 4th-grader from Kyiv, was traveling with her family and siblings in their car when it came under fire from a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group. "Her name was Polina. She studied in the 4th grade of school in Kyiv. This morning on Teligi and her parents were shot by Russian DRG,” a social media post by city’s deputy mayor Volodymyr Bondarenko reads.
Over 300 civilians have already been killed in Ukraine, the country's health ministry has said. Over 1,000 people, including more than 100 children, have been wounded. Authorities have reportedly been handing out weapons to anyone who wishes to defend the country.
After their military efforts received an unprecedented setback from the Ukrainian troops, Russia is now desperately trying to infiltrate the capital city of Kyiv. Satellite images released by US-based Maxar Technologies showed a 40-mile long Russian military convoy slowly proceeding towards Kyiv. Additionally, photos of additional ground forces and attack helicopter units were also spotted near the Ukraine border.
US intelligence sources also told that there are chances of the second wave of Russian attacks on Kyiv which might trump the Ukrainian resistance. In fact, 75 per cent of Russian forces previously stationed at the borders are now well within the country. Other sources also predicted to CNN that there might be ugly scenes of urban warfare as Russia plans to seize power in Kyiv. Meanwhile, Ukraine fears the worst phase of the war as Russian forces continue indiscriminate killings and resort to merciless warfare tactics.
