‘He stabbed her multiple places, multiple times’: NYC mother recalls how son, 13, brutally attacked his sister, 14

JAMAICA, QUEENS: A 13-year-old boy is facing assault charges for allegedly stabbing his 14-year-old sister multiple times inside the family’s home in Jamaica, New York City. The incident took place at around 7 pm on Saturday, March 11 at 111th Avenue and 156th Street. An eight-year-old was also at home when his older sister was stabbed.
According to ABC7, police officers found the girl with stab wounds on her arms, legs, and face. As per the report, the boy initially claimed that he called 911 and that there was a burglar. However, he confessed to stabbing his sister after being taken into custody.

Where were the parents?
The teens' parents were not at home when the incident happened. However later, on Sunday, March 12, the 42-year-old mother of the suspect and victim, Rupiah Begum, who works at McDonald, told New York Post, "I was not home. I was called away. An emergency at work." While her husband, who as per neighbors owns a taxi service and is a cab driver himself, is on a trip to Bangladesh.
The mother said, "I don’t know what happened. Everything is good usually. They play together. No problems usually.” The mother of five, further added that her son was “frightened” while her daughter remained at Jamaica Hospital with multiple stab wounds. “He said something is wrong. He said he was angry. He stabbed her multiple places, multiple times. I don’t know what happened," the mother shared.
Why did the boy attack his sister?
The teen told police that his sister was “bothering him." One of the neighbors told New York Post that the boy is autistic. The individual, who wanted to stay anonymous, said, "He screams a lot and there’s, you know, there’s a lot of yelling. They came here three years ago. Nicest neighbors we ever had. Never any trouble at all." And added, "It’s terrible what happened. My wife was really upset last night. The whole block was in shock. All the flashing red lights and the cops, and it was just terrible.”
