NYC man, 41, stabbed eight times after getting into argument at Times Square on New Year's Eve
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Police said that a man was stabbed at least eight times in Midtown, a short distance from the Times Square location where many people join in to welcome the new year. According to the NYPD, the violent incident took place at 11 am on Saturday, December 31, near Seventh Avenue and West 40th Street.
An NYPD spokeswoman told the New York Post that police has identified the victim as a male, who was 'uncooperative' and had eight stab wounds over his body. Other reports suggest the attacker who stabbed the man, looked younger and he fled from the scene right after the attack.

Daily News reported that a 41-year-old man was repeatedly stabbed and slashed during a bloody fight with a rival in Times Square on Saturday as the city prepares for its annual New Year’s Eve celebration, citing police sources. As per the outlet, the man is believed to be homeless and got engaged in a fight following an argument with another man. One of the men pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed and slashed his chest.
The victim ran into the train station and quickly exited it waving at the NYPD cruiser for help. As he waited for the ambulance to arrive, he spat blood on the cruiser, the report mentioned. EMS rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where he is said to be stable and likely going to survive the attack. So far, no arrests have been made as the attacker ran off while the city prepares Times Square for the scores of people who are expected to watch the ball drop on New Year's Eve.

This recent incident comes at a time when police are trying to fight a 12% jump in assaults this year. As of December 25, cops had investigated over 25,596 assaults, 2,858 more than last year, according to NYPD statistics. While the number of assaults was up, cops claimed that they saw a 17% drop in shootings and a 13% in homicides this year when compared to 2021′s numbers, as per the outlet.
