'Roswell, New Mexico' Season 2 Episode 4: Nora's truth is revealed as Liz asks for Kyle's help to save Max
Spoilers for 'Roswell, New Mexico' Season 2 Episode 4 'What If God Was One of Us?'
This episode saw Liz ask Kyle for an interesting favor as she gets closer to saving Max while Michael and Alex's investigation about Nora takes them to a historian named Forrest. The episode takes us back in time as the new characters continue to reel from revelations. Season 2 has definitely amped up the emotions.
Michael Guerin and Alex Manes get their minds together to gather the details of the fire incident that took place in the Logn farm in 1948. While it was predictable what had happened, the show took a while to reveal the details.
Michael's mother Nora and friend Louise were helped by Roy Bronson, a foreman, and Walt. Nora was still being hunted. On the farm, Nora and Lousie were in the process of building a ship and she kept Michael in her pod because it wasn't safe — this is what saved his life. The bodies of Louise, Roy and Walt weren't shown but they are presumed to be dead in an explosion, courtesy of Tripp Manes — Alex's far related uncle. This episode saw Alex reveal how truly messed up he is about his family's involvement in the perishing of the Guerin’s family while Micheal was assured that his mother didn't leave him behind and did care about him.
As for the title of the episode, we can't help but think that the series keeps trying to push that Max may be a God. If you recall, he was described by Noah as a 'savior' and in this episode, Isobel hints that planets have their own Gods. Kyle was introduced in the episode when Liz asks him for help to bring Max back — he's getting mixed signals. Not to mention, Max is hell-bent on not wanting to come back.
Also, we want Max and Liz together but it seems there might be a Kyle and Liz ship sailing soon. The kiss and the breakfast is all we needed to prove this point. It's sad to see Kyle wanting to do everything for Liz to make her happy but he can't move on and it isn't fair. We're hoping Kyle sticks with Stef.
On a cuter front, Isobel tries to reunite her family thinking that Arturo would be able to accept Rosa's miraculous return. They were hinting at a resurrection, of course. Although, there seem to be no questions asked, which is weird. Rosa is back from the dead after a decade and while Arturo accepts it, who else will, without questions?
While the series is trying to answer questions, it may be pushing boundaries too quickly as everyone's storylines are picking up pace. It isn't giving each narrative the attention it deserves but maybe the narratives collide as the series move on and this will all make sense.
'Roswell, New Mexico' Season 2 airs on Monday nights on The CW at 9/8c.
