TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA: Florida Governor and one of the most powerful Republican leaders eyeing for White House, Ron DeSantis, has joined the queue of important personalities in slamming the Bud Light maker Anheuser Busch for its trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney campaign for being "woke". The controversy has snowballed ever since the advertisement with the influencer on April 1 for the beverage backfired claiming over five billion reported losses to the company so far, according to Daily Mail.

DeSantis, as he revealed in an interview, would not be drinking the beverages from the maker and that the Anheuser Busch has lost a customer in him. This comes after Donald Trump called for an end to the drinks boycott and DeSantis and his Florida Republican party, including other groups even getting donations worth $215,000, since the 2021 election campaigns.

3 billion reasons why Anheuser-Busch's Bud Light campaign featuring Dylan Mulvaney may have backfired

'Why would you want to drink Bud Light?'

"Why would you want to drink Bud Light?" DeSantis said after being asked for his take on Bud Light getting hit hard in an interview with Benny Johnson. "I mean like honestly, that's like them rubbing our faces in it, and it's like these companies that do this, if they never have any response, they are just gonna keep doing it."  He said that the companies that do this, "if they never have any response they are just gonna keep doing it."

DeSantis said that corporate America is trying to "change the culture" suggesting consumers act smart by saying, "We as the consumers have the power to make our voice heard." "Sometimes conservative consumers aren’t going to make a dent in some companies. This one is. If you don’t have conservative beer drinkers, you’re going to feel that,” he said.

"Some of the controversies... come up and people kind of say it is kind of one-off and stupid thing to do but it is part of a larger thing where corporate America is trying to change our country, trying to change policy and culture."

'I would rather be governed by people than woke companies'

“I’d rather be governed by we the people rather than woke companies, so I believe pushback is in order across the board, including with Bud Light,” he said. When asked "Will we ever see you drinking Bud Light again?", he replies, "I don't think so."

The comments come even as the company as per Transparency USA donated tens and thousands to Ron DeSantis, the Florida Republican party, and other groups for political campaigns. The website shows $50,000.00 donated to Florida Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee, Inc in 2022, $50,000.00 to the Republican Party of Florida, and $50,000.00 to Ron DeSantis.

The situation gets awkward even as Donald Trump has called for the end of the boycott. He claimed that after doing some research, he discovered that Anheuser-Busch primarily supported Republicans and claimed that some of his fellow conservatives had "the tendency of — shooting first and aiming second."
