For several years we have been watching Joe Giudice repeatedly mistreat his wife Teresa Giudice. Despite him calling her names and being awful to her, Teresa has always chosen to stick to his side — she even went to jail for a crime he committed.

While she was away in jail, she lost her mother, and ever since then, the 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' star has been resentful towards her husband.

After she got out of prison, he was sent to prison, and thus began his constant abuse. He kept calling her, said nasty things to her and kept disrespecting her.

For instance, when Teresa was out with their daughter Gia, Joe called her and point-blank told her that he made her sign a prenup because he didn’t want to get married to her. The housewife was obviously taken aback on hearing such harsh words from her husband, but couldn’t say much because their daughter was around.

The time apart from Joe seems to have given some perspective for Teresa because she is now realizing that she deserves someone better than Joe — one who treats her with respect and not abuse her constantly.

We saw this side of Teresa during her trip to Italy when she went to meet Joe. While Joe constantly kept trying to cozy up to her and rekindle their marriage with his sweet-talking, the housewife resisted.

Fans were very happy to see her not give in to Joe's attempts to get back together and proud to see her stand her ground and demand the respect she deserves.

A fan tweeted, "Joe has been awful to Teresa all season.. How did he expect Teresa to feel? They have also been apart for so many years they are both obviously different now. It's sad but its the truth. #RHONJ."

Another fan expressed, "I am not a fan of Teresa but the way Joe speaks to her and dismisses everything as if it’s no big deal is absolutely disgusting. Even she deserves better than that. #RHONJ."

"I'm really proud of @Teresa_Giudice for separating from Joe. Even though it's sad, she deserves so much better. Joe is borderline abusive and I am in tears over Teresa leaving that behind. Make yourself happy girl! #RHONJ," wrote a fan.

Another fan commented, "Joe thinking he's gonna get some after treating Teresa like crap during every conversation we've heard while he’s been in jail/ICE. Should have kept the same energy this whole time and not just one trip  #rhonj #Bravo."

"Joe thinking Teresa was going to say 'Let's get it on' after she spent a year in jail, missed quality time with her mom, spent a huge amount of money on his defense for a crime he committed was male ego x 100 #RHONJ," pointed out a fan.

You can catch Part 1 of 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' Season 10 reunion on Wednesday, March 4 at 8 pm only on Bravo.
