After his documentary-style update from the bushy banks of the Rio Grande, where he spoke of his "encounters" with cartels and witnessing "many women and children" crossing the border illegally, Ted Cruz is now being mocked on social media for filming a gap in the Trump wall where allegedly a migrant "surge" is going on.

In a video tweeted by The Hill, Senator Cruz can be seen talking to the camera revealing the gap in the wall. In a pensive documentary style, Cruz relays how the 30 feet high border wall that ex-President Donald Trump built to stop immigrants coming in from Mexico, has been abruptly stopped after running for miles. Cruz blames President Joe Biden for it, but the Internet wishes if only the country had "stopped (his) dad from coming in!"

The video begins with Cruz showing off the Trump wall, telling the camera how secure the border wall is before saying, "The Trump administration made major steps building the border wall." He then asks: "What did Joe Biden do? He said stop." Cruz then points to the area where the wall abruptly ends, discontinuing with a vast gap. "As you step back, this is wide open. That's what Joe Biden is doing," he adds. He then asks the camera: "Wanna know why we're seeing this crazy border surge? Because Joe Biden told the world, 'Come on in, catch and release is back in business." He concludes, "This is madness. It's gotta stop."

The post by the Hill has amassed over two thousand likes, and saw users mocking Cruz's reporting of what's going on at the border. Mimicking his style in the monologue, one user tweeted, "If only they had stopped your dad from coming in!", referring to Cruz's Canadian parent, which soon sparked a debate about his citizenship. Users tried to remind and mock Cruz for owning a Canadian birth certificate while complaining about an immigrant surge at the border.

"Ted Cruz can wrap himself up as tight as he wants in the American flag; but he was born a "Canadian" immigrant and a "Canadian" he'll remain because every time he sits down that pretty blue birth certificate in his pocket will always be right there; between him and American soil," wrote one.

Others were fixated on the trip to Cancun the Texas senator took while the state was freezing during the winter. "What’s so sad about Cancun Rafael Cruz, he wasn’t even born in the United States. He’s a Cuban immigrant. He came in Texas when he was two yrs old, the son of an immigrant. He wants to be president, but, to be president of the United States, one has to be a natural born citizen," quipped another user.

Some focused on criticizing the cinematography of the docu-style update: "This is a really stupid video, standing there, all by himself, trying to convince us that thousands of people are crashing the border, Cruz should have at least hired some extras or something," tweeted a user. Others criticized: "Oh good grief. Cancun Ted needs to stop with this BS. Where was he for the last four years? If he's so concerned about the virus, why did he jet off to Cancun when his constituents were literally freezing to death? His pretend performance is just nauseating." Another said, "Best part is there isnt a soul around. He is completely alone"

Cruz's video proof comes after he had tweeted the photo of a vague yellow arrow on the ground, and captioned it "The Biden Admin immediately halted building the wall, leaving major gaps through which hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants are streaming. Instead, Biden admin is putting signs like this one (about 100 yards from the Rio Grande) directing illegal immigrants where to go." Another video showed him trying to break in to film a migrant camp, as an unnamed masked Biden Administratrion staffer tells him, "Please give dignity to the people. Please give dignity to the people. Please respect the people, the rule," while blocking the senator's camera with her face.
