Reality Star of the Week: Manipulative 'Love Island USA' star Leah Kateb gets the gong
MAMANUCA ISLANDS, FIJI: Andrea Carmona's eviction startled the Islanders. Many 'Love Island USA' viewers as well as the cast members now feel Leah Kateb's manipulative techniques contributed to Andrea's demise.
Much to the surprise of many Islanders, Andrea was eliminated from Peacock's 'Love Island USA' Season 6 villa. She arrived in the villa with Nicole Jacky and was asked to kiss two castmates right away: Robert "Rob" Rausch and Aaron Evans.
She went on dates with both Rob and Aaron and, after developing a stronger bond with Rob, chose to pursue him during a recoupling ceremony. Furthermore, she then took him away from Leah, who never seemed to move on from Rob, even though she went on to recouple with Connor Newsum.
During this week's elimination round, voting lines opened to the public before Episode 12 aired, allowing viewers to rank their preferred and least favored couples. Rob and Andrea, Kendall Washington and Nicole, and JaNa Craig and Hakeem White received the fewest votes.
Following the announcement of these results, the new host, Ariana Madix, shifted the power dynamics by allowing the remaining couples to decide which man and woman would be eliminated. The men chose Hakeem, while the women surprisingly selected Andrea.
Despite the unanimous vote, Leah revealed to Rob that she had played a minimal role in Andrea's elimination. The decision shocked Rob and the rest of the cast, as he and Andrea were considered one of the more solid couples in the villa.
With Hakeem's elimination announced first, the islanders expected the women to vote JaNa out as well, given their current pairing. Leah, Kaylor Martin, Serena Page, and Olivia "Liv" Walker had to choose between JaNa, Nicole, and Andrea, and the decision appeared straightforward.
Rob threatens to leave the villa, accusing Kaylor, Serena, and Liv of targeting Andrea out of sympathy for Leah. He speculated that Leah voted against Andrea to spite him, but Leah denied this.
The situation changed when Liv informed Rob that Leah did not play a passive role during the vote; instead, she actively led the charge against Andrea. Rob was stunned by this revelation, realizing Leah's manipulative actions. Leah simply wanted Andrea out of the picture.
Andrea Carmona suprised by 'Rob and Andrea' haters in 'Love Island USA' Season 6
"When it came down to me and Rob versus Leah and Connor, I feel like the fan base probably sympathized more towards Leah and just wanted her to stay on versus Rob and I." In an interview with TODAY.com, Andrea says, "I feel like maybe we had some haters."
Andrea was startled by her elimination. She believed she and Rob would have placed first.
Andrea suspected that Leah and Connor were voted in because the fan base felt for Leah after the Rob crisis. "So I felt like it wasn’t necessarily about the couples in that voting. I feel like it was more about favorites people were voting for."
When it came down to Andrea and Rob vs. Leah and Connor, Andrea believes the fan base sympathized with Leah and wanted her to stay instead of Rob and her.
"I feel like maybe we had some haters. That’s kind of where I felt that voting process went."
Andrea Carmona spoke to Leah Kateb after her date with 'Love Island USA's Rob Rausch
Andrea claims she had chats with Leah regarding Rob's circumstances after they started dating. She hadn't spoken with Leah previously since, when she arrived, she quickly drew Rob and Aaron aside for a conversation.
She concentrated on that. And suddenly the day was done.
The next day, Andrea wanted to draw Leah away, and then they received a text that said, "Surprise! Pull two guys for a date." Andrea definitely went straight to that.
Andrea and Leah did, however, talk after returning from their outings. She told Leah, "Listen, I know it’s not on you. I don’t have any animosity towards you. It’s just the way that Rob went about things."
Andrea alleges Leah felt caught off guard in this regard. But she was quite polite about it.
Andrea Carmona claims Leah Kateb spoke ill of 'Love Island USA's Rob Rausch
Andrea claims that whether Leah ever said anything negative about Rob, she had a choice of words. She did say many terrible things about him.
"I guess to her defense, if we’re getting technical, she never said it directly to me. But she would yell it very loudly in the dressing rooms as we’re all getting ready to gather. So it’s like she was intently saying these negative things about him. Then she’ll run back and be like, ‘Oh, but, you know like, I hope it works out with you,’ or like, ‘I hope he treats you different for your sake,’" Andrea told TODAY.
Andrea thought it was kind of "malicious" in that regard. And she got the impression that Leah was simply attempting to get into Andrea's thoughts.
Andrea claims Leah had a lot to say about Rob, which she just disregarded. Leah was emotional. "I get it. Her situation was different," she said.
