Did 'RHOP' star Candiace Bassett call Michael Darby as Ashley's 'slave driver'?
Ashley called out Candiace for calling her husband Michael 'slave driver' and asked her what she meant by it and if she was being called a slave
The phrase forgive and forget doesn't seem to exist in Candiace Dillard Bassett's life. Although the housewife's fight with Mia Thornton has taken the centre stage this season, that doesn't mean her feud with co-star Ashley Darby has ceased. The recently aired episode of 'Real Housewives of Potomac' featured Candiace and Ashley locking horns yet again.
During their mini-vacation in Chesapeake the 'RHOP' ladies and their partners decided to have a nice dinner together. What was supposed to be a fun and 'good vibes only' dinner quickly turned very ugly when Candiace and Ashley got into a huge screaming match at the restaurant, leaving everybody feeling shocked and uncomfortable. It all began when Ashley asked Candiace's husband Chris Bassett about her earlier fight with Mia. Chris explained that he told off Candiace for creating a huge scene with Mia. He then added that he would like to make peace with Ashley's husband Michael Darby. The two husbands have had problematic history on the show, as both of them talked down about each other and even got into a physical altercation last season.
Ashley points out that some of the comments that Chris and Candiace have made about her husband didn't sit well with him. Candiace immediately chipped in and brought up how her husband was called 'white trash' by Michael. Chris tried his best to deescalate the situation, but things quickly got out of hand when a very annoyed Ashley brought up some of Candiace's problematic social media posts. She called out Candiace for calling her husband Michael 'slave driver' and asked her what she meant by it and if she was being called a slave.
Instead of immediately denying the accusation or clarifying her statements, Candiace simply shrugged her shoulders and continued to sip on her drink totally indifferent to accusations of calling a Black woman a 'slave' and a White man 'slave driver'. In case you're wondering if Candiace really did make these hurtful comments about the Darbys then we got you covered. Thankfully, the show's producers produced the receipts of the tweets that Ashley was referring to from back in 2019. Candiace calls Michael Ashley's 'overseer'. In response to Ashley's tweet calling out Chris for his heated exchange with Michael, Candiace wrote, "Let me tell you something. I’m trying to spare your weak a** tonight but my hub isn’t who you want. You and your overseer have enough to tend to for you to be sticking that forehead in my business. Be still."
Let me tell you something. I’m trying to spare your weak ass tonight but my hub isn’t who you want. You and your overseer have enough to tend to for you to be sticking that forehead in my business. Be still. https://t.co/k1Cvf46HjI— CANDIACE (@TherealCANDIACE) June 3, 2019
We can't wait to watch how the drama unfolds between Candiace and Ashley going forward. The other ladies- Gizelle Bryant, Robyn Dixon, and Karen Huger expresses their disappointment with Candiace's behavior and expressed how their co-star has learned nothing from how things went down between Monique Samuels and her on the previous season of the show. Candiace and the 'RHOP' alum got into an explosive fight after Candiace made some snide comments about Monique which ended with her being dragged across the room. Will Ashley and Candiace's situation get that bad? Only time will tell.
'Real Housewives of Potomac' Season 6 airs every Sunday at 8/7c on Bravo.
