Prince Philip's wish to be reincarnated as 'deadly virus' resurfaces, Internet says 'he died 2 years ago'
In the wake of Prince Philip's death, his past guffaws and slip-ups have resurfaced and is being circulated on social media. While many are pouring in with thoughts, prayers, and words of condolences, some others are convinced that the late Duke of Edinburgh has been dead for quite a while now. This speculation is due to a 2009 article that listed the most outrageous things uttered by him, including claiming he'd like to be 'reincarnated as a deadly virus'.
Prince Philip's death was announced on Friday, April 9, by Buckingham Palace, and ever since then, social media has been mourning. Soon, however, The Guardian interview was dug up where the Queen's consort said 'On death:, In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, to contribute something to solving overpopulation." A screenshot of the interview went viral on Twitter after a user shared it with the caption: "What the f**k". Soon others started replying with their own theories about the answer, the most common one being quipped about Covid-19.

'So the virus is gone too, right?'
Social media immediately deemed this as "More evidence emerges that Prince Philip in fact died at least 2 years ago." One user even alleged: "Last year, someone in the military had told his taxi driver that the queen and philip have been dead for a while, the people we see in the media are just stunt doubles. I’m not usually into conspiracies, but I really believe this." Another joked: "First you colonise now you coronaise how are we solving this."
Some seemed hopeful: "Ok now he's dead so the virus will be gone soon too right? I've connected the dots." Others expressed alarm, tweeting: "So I guess I'm not the only one who's read that 'reincarnation' quote from prince Philip! What is happening on this planet? =))))))) Does that mean we must anticipate a zombie virus?" Some, however, offered reassurance, tweeting the same screenshot of the answer, with the caption: "guys hear me out... prince philip was already dead, and he is the corona virus".

The Daily Express notes this answer was part of an interview for Deutsche Press-Agentur and had made rounds wildly back when the Covid-19 pandemic had just started. Since then, social media has also noted how he died just a week after the scheduled date for his second dosage of vaccine. "'He took his first jab jan 8th, and will get a second dose in 12 weeks' That would mean he took the 2nd on the April 2nd, a week later he was dead. They count all death as covid if it happened 28 days after a positive test. We should treat vax’s the same," wrote one Twitter user.

News of Prince Philips's death was announced by the Palace via a statement that read: "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."
The late Duke had been hospitalized for weeks earlier in the year as a palace-described precautionary measure. He was admitted to King Edward VII's Hospital in London on February 16 and was discharged a month later, around the same time his grandson Harry's bombshell interview with his wife Meghan Markle was broadcast.
