'Enrique y Meghan': Netflix Spain translates 'Harry' in docu, Charles and William too have Spanish names
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: A TikTok user has found out that the new Netflix docuseries on Prince Harry and Meghan refers to the royal family with a different name in Spain. Apparently, in Spanish, Prince Harry is not called "Prince Harry" at all and the same thing also applies to King Charles and Prince William.
This weird discovery was made by a TikTok user named Sofía (@sofi4.gr) after she first watched the first three episodes of the highly anticipated program that premiered on December 8. She uploaded a screenshot of what the Harry & Meghan landing page looks like on the Netflix app in Spain. "In Spain they translated Harry's name," she wrote in all caps while filming herself with her hand over her mouth in shock. In Spanish, the name of the series ' Harry & Meghan' translates to "Enrique y Meghan."

Social media users were left stunned when they came to know that people in Spain and other Spanish-speaking people know the royal family by entirely different names. "I never knew this was a thing," wrote one commenter, according to New York Post. "This was the biggest culture shock for me living in Spain too," wrote another. Others found that it does not look too logical to change the word of the name in Spanish. "How can you translate a name? A name is a name," argued one. "I’ve never understood this because yes that’s the Spanish version of his name but his name is Harry?" wrote one more.
However, there were others as well who pointed out that translating names has long been a custom with royals. In Spanish-speaking nations, Harry's family members go by alternate names too. King Charles is Carlos, Queen Elizabeth was Isabel, and Prince William is Guillermo.
MEAWW previously reported, the docuseries has a dismal rating of 21% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a total of 32 audience ratings. Meanwhile, on IMDb, it has received a rating of 1.9 out of 10 with 74 reviews. On RT, the docuseries has received 10 half-star ratings while 8 out of 9 reviews on IMDb gave it one star. The series saw Harry and Meghan recounting bitter experiences, especially with tabloids when they left the royal family. The series will also include interviews with family, friends, historians, and journalists. The couple took potshots at the British media as soon as the docuseries starts. The Duke of Sussex also discussed his mother Princess Diana and the panorama interview that took place in 1995. He also recalled the kind of harassment she faced at the time. As of now, there has not been any official statement made by the royal household.
The second part of three episodes is slated to be released on December 15.
