'Power' season 6: Ghost's death and Tommy's full-circle moment will be the highlights when the Starz show returns one last time
As we inch closer towards the premiere of season six of 'Power', we can’t help but wonder what the fate of Ghost and co. will be, especially considering this is the last time we see them before its goodbye forever. In the previous season, BFFs Ghost (Omari Hardwick) and Tommy (Joseph Sikora) turn into sworn enemies thanks to a series of misunderstandings.
In the end, Tommy shoots at Ghost, but his beloved Angela (Lela Loren) protects him – as usual – and gets hit instead. Unless she does a Kanan (50 Cent), Angela is dead, and Ghost has nothing stopping him going after Tommy. Season six, from what we can tell, is all about revenge and we are all for it.
However, as die-hard fans, here are five things we want the sixth and final season of 'Power' to feature:
An epic showdown between Tommy and Ghost
Starz promoted season six of 'Power' as the season of "Tommy vs Ghost", with both finally learning the very important lesson about double-crossing – no one wins. In the end, they will lose, everything… Ghost more than Tommy.
Tommy and Ghost come full circle
'Power' is not a show to dwell on emotions, but we do believe that what Tommy and Ghost share is pure and worth protecting. While Tommy signed his death warrant with Ghost by killing Angela, albeit, by accident, there is still some hope for the two. Our projection is that 'Power' will end with Ghost’s death and it will be Tommy that is by his side when he breathes his last.
Tariq's (Michael Rainey Jr) final betrayal
Tariq's resentment towards his father is no secret and in the trailer for the upcoming season, we see that it has not died down in the least. We hear him tell Tommy, "He couldn't even be there for his family at a time when we needed him most."
Tommy then asks, "How would you feel if something really bad happened to him?" To this, the prodigal son replies: "To be honest, I don’t know," suggesting he is not opposed to the idea of something "really bad" happening to him. Honestly, we wouldn't put murder past him.
Ghost proves he can be clean
Angela's death is a reminder of everything that Ghost did wrong, especially in the last moments of her life. Had he trusted the love of his life, he would not have taken her to the school, which inevitably got her killed. However, Ghost is more shocked by what the people he thought were closest to him, are capable of. From the trailer for the upcoming season, it definitely seems like he is alienating himself from these people and starting afresh.
He also seems to have associated revenge with success and we will see him trying to get the "Queens Child Project built to consecrate Raina's legacy, and finally achieve a thriving legitimate lifestyle with no criminal strings attached" in the final season.
Backdoor episode for spin-off series
We already know that 'Power' does not end with the final episode. In fact, it would open the door to a whole universe of 'Power' that will follow the lives of the various characters on the show that we love. As programming chief Carmi Zlotnik said in a statement, "Courtney Kemp and 50 Cent have created a world rich with complex and dynamic characters and there are a number of stories we plan to tell as we continue to explore and expand the 'Power' universe."
"We will follow some of your beloved 'Power' characters beyond the scope of the initial series," Kemp had said, meaning there would be an episode that serves as a backdoor to the new show, and we cannot wait to see what that would be.
