What is Pluie?

In New York City, Robert Moses was a well-known urban planner and visionary who is regarded as one of the most successful and significant figures in the history of the city's growth. During the design and construction of Jones Beach State Park in 1929, he imagined and created spotless, practical chambers for moms to switch out their tables. Not exactly a popular concept. The wall-mounted changing station was not developed for public bathrooms until the middle of the 1980s. Since then, the tables' layout has essentially stayed the same. You might be compelled to use tables that aren't thoroughly sterilized, are rough on a baby's bottom, or lack or have damaged safety restraints. Going back to the vehicle to change a diaper can sometimes feel better.

Pluie is the first and only self-sanitizing diaper-changing station for public bathrooms. The novel technology and sleek design result in the cleanest, healthiest, safest, most comfortable, and most dependable public changing station.

The unique UV-C light system eliminates 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, and pathogens, including the coronavirus, influenza, and E. coli. In hospitals, surfaces in patient areas are sterilized using the same technology. A security switch conceals the lighting system, which only illuminates when the changing table is shut. The illumination gives the surface a 60-second sanitizing after every use. The table must not be uncovered until the bright blue LED that signals sanitization goes out during that period. For bathrooms without access to power, a non-UV table is offered.

A place to put a baby bag or pocketbook so that it is off the ground, and you have free hands is provided by the gas-assisted spring top, which opens and shuts easily with one hand and has stainless steel handles. The changing table has a super-plush mattress that is water-resistant and leakproof, and it is big enough to store tissues, cream, powder, and other supplies. Since the security strap is extendable, it is always in place and is never lost, damaged, or torn. Pluie complies with all ADA requirements as well as ASTM, CPSIA, FCC, and UL 1431 regulations for UV-C light goods and children's products.

Who is the founder of Pluie?

In New York and California, Addie was a well-known cook in dining establishments. She created food and drink items for numerous well-known customers, featured on The Food Network, and wrote cookbooks. She put down her Yoshihiro blades when she became a mother and faced the disagreeable situation of having too many changing tables, and instead turned to find a solution.

Brittany created exercise apparatus for gyms and health facilities. She became CEO of Crestlner Boats after receiving her MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Like Addie, she was appalled by the deplorable state of many changing tables. After meeting through a masterful act of coincidence, Addie and Brittany began working on the Pluie.

What is the cost and where to buy Pluie from?

It is intended for business use and costs $2899. In hospitals, arenas, malls, amusement parks, airports, and many other public places throughout the USA, Pluies have been placed. For $1699, they also offer a changing station without UV technology for locations without access to electricity. A cushion-changing surface that is water-resistant, leakproof, and simple to clean is included in both versions. The devices are wall-mounted and extend out when in use.

Where is Pluie now?

The Fast Company 2021 World Changing Idea was awarded by Pluie. They also took home the prize at the 21st Annual Chicago Innovation Awards, which honor new goods and services in the Chicago area. One of TIME Magazine's Best Inventions is Pluie. They took home the top prize in the presentation competition Wintrust Company Spotlight, which also gave them the opportunity to present their company to venture investors and other influential local businesspeople. A fantasy come true for ardent supporter Addie, prizes also include partnering with a mentor, MBA scholarships, and tossing out the first ball at a Chicago Club game!

The men's, women's, and family bathrooms at the Indianapolis International Airport will all have 50 Pluie diaper changing tables installed, the airport has revealed. Families will benefit from an improvement in hygiene, comfort, and efficiency. This news comes on March 10 as Pluie's founders, one of whom is an Indy local, present their invention on "Shark Tank," just as families are starting to journey for spring break.

"Installing Pluie’s self-sanitizing changing tables throughout the Indianapolis International Airport demonstrates our commitment to the health, safety, and comfort of all of our travelers,” Maria Wiley, ADA coordinator, and sr. director of the audit, risk management, and procurement for the Indianapolis Airport Authority, said. "And it’s another example of our world-class customer service". Both the post-security and the pre-security Nursing Mother's Rooms at the airport presently have tables built. There will be an additional 50 chairs in each bathroom at the airport.

"Pluie is on a mission to improve health, cleanliness, comfort, and convenience for all families on the go, which aligns perfectly with the Indianapolis airport leadership’s commitment to providing the best possible passenger experience for travelers of all ages," Addie Gundry, Pluie Founder, and CEO, said. “Throughout this partnership, it has been easy to see why they are consistently recognized as the best airport in North America, and we are honored they see Pluie as a valuable addition for creating the most optimal guest experience for traveling moms, dads, babies, and families of all shapes and sizes."

Pluie changing stations are also available at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, and St. Louis Lambert International Airport.

As a B2B product, Gundry adds, "We are very proud to be a part of a small and exclusive community of startups to appear on Shark Tank, especially as a B2B product. It is a testament to the value of our product, the power of the brand, and how strongly our mission resonates with people. We're driven to ensure all parents and caregivers on the go have access to a clean, comfortable, convenient place to change their baby's diaper in all 4 million public restrooms in the US, and we're grateful for the opportunity to share that mission with viewers."

Who will steal the deal?

With a fake baby, Shark Robert Herjavec will present a live demonstration of the device. He has two young children at home, so he has lately used a changing station. It will be interesting to see if the sample strikes a chord with him. He'll most likely present a deal, though. So will Mr. Wonderful aka Shark Kevin O'Leary. This screams "royalty" in every way. But Shark Lori Greiner won't be placing any bids on it. If sales are strong, the sharks Daymond John and Mark Cuban might make bids.
