Troll targeting Piers Morgan and son Spencer with death threats arrested
Last year an online troll sent death threats to Piers Morgan and his son Spencer saying, 'you're getting killed'. Reportedly, the man responsible has been arrested under the Malicious Communications Act. When TV star Piers Morgan, 56, was tagged in the comment with the death threat, he decided to report it to the police. Officers from the country's two biggest police forces were assigned to this case that saw both Piers Morgan and his eldest son Spencer as victims of online death threats.
Piers Morgan said, "People think it’s perfectly OK to make death threats to public figures on social media but it’s not — there has to be a line drawn, especially when family members are targeted." He added, "That’s why I reported it and I am grateful to the Met Police and Greater Manchester Police for taking it so seriously.”

As adviced by the police, Piers Morgan has now installed a panic button by his bed. The messages he recieved said that the former TV host of 'Good Morning Britain' was a "marked man" and that no security measures could save the Morgans. The online troll added a deadly promise about Piers 'getting killed'. On the other hand, Spencer, 28, was told that he would "get it" if his father did not. The troll also said, "or your mum."
An insider close to the Morgans said, "This is a point of principle for Piers — he will not tolerate evil threats being sent to his loved ones. A troll sent an unbelievably vile and graphic message to both Piers and Spencer, pledging to kill [them]. An arrest has finally been made but the lengthy investigation is still ongoing." The insider added, "Piers hopes this evil troll ends up in prison where he belongs. Hopefully it’ll also act as a deterrent to other online abusers." The suspected troll was arrested but later was released on bail. It is yet to be determined whether or not he will be charged. When he was in jail, his phone and tablets were taken for forensic analysis. This arrest took place almost a year after the troll targeted Mr Morgan and his eldest son.
