LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the shock horror film realm, a new movie stepped in as Hollywood remembered that European sleaze merchants made a lot of cannibal pictures in the 1970s, one of the most notorious mondo movies is making a comeback: 'Faces of Death,' a project first announced a few years back. Filmmakers Isa Mazzei and Daniel Goldhaber have crafted a film that brings the shocking fear of the original 'Faces of Death' videos into the digital age. 'Faces of Death’ was one of the first viral video tapes, and we are so lucky to be able to use it as a jumping-off point for this exploration of cycles of violence and the way they perpetuate themselves online,” Mazzei and Goldhaber said in a statement. Mazzei and Goldhaber previously collaborated on 'How to Blow Up a Pipeline,' which was acquired by Neon at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. Also, the multiverse of Netflix and HBO collides as one star from 'Stranger Things,' and one star from 'Euphoria' has been cast in the movie. Read more to find out about the cast.

'Euphoria' meets 'Stranger Things'

As per THR, Stars from some of the biggest streaming television shows in streaming history are coming together for a gruesome remake, as Barbie Ferreira and Dacre Montgomery have signed to be a part of a 'Faces of Death' remake for Lionsgate. Ferreira's most recognizable role is also related to the camgirl experience, as the actress played Kat during the first two seasons of HBO hit television series, 'Euphoria'. On the other hand, Montgomery can attribute his fame to his role as Billy Hargrove in Netflix's behemoth of a series, 'Stranger Things'. As Max's (Sadie Sink) older brother, Billy was an aggressive teenager, with explosive outbursts of anger. Angry Films’ Don Murphy and Susan Montford will produce with Divide/Conquer’s Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath. Rick Benattar will executive produce and Cory Kaplan will co-produce.

'This has potential to be amazing'

Fans were quick to express their opinions. A fan said, "can’t wait to see u on screen again along with the amazing barbie," while another said, "Montgomery is a stupid good actor, so any project he's on, I'm on." A fan posted, "Ngl this has potential to amazing or amazingly bad. I'll give it a shot either way." A fan commented, "I remember watching faces of death on VCR those films damaged my psyche… will be watching this too haha," while another tweeted, "Dacre is a kino actor. Absolute masterclass. Barbie was really good in Euphoria. I didn’t like her character much but she did a good job. You peaked my interest."
