Kansas City pastor offers groveling apology after BERATING congregation for not buying him a NEW WATCH!
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: A pastor has issued an apology to his congregation after slamming them for not buying him a costly watch. As per reports, pastor Carlton Funderburke went on to humiliate the churchgoers by calling them “poor, broke, busted, and disgusted,” after they did not give him a Movado watch, the cost of which goes from $395 to $3,295. He apparently had asked for the gift in 2021 only.
On August 7, 2022, Funderburke reportedly lost his control as he told the Church at the Well congregation, “I'm not worth your McDonald's money? I'm not worth your Red Lobster money? I ain't worth your St. John Knits - y'all can't afford it no how. I ain't worth your Louis Vuitton? I ain't worth your Prada? I'm not worth your Gucci?”

His agitational speech was reportedly recorded also and shared on a TikTok page called Kanascitydefender. The caption of the footage read, "Kansas City Pastor GOES OFF on congregation calling them "poor, broke busted and disgusted" because they didn't give him enough money to buy a new watch he's been wanting. It's pastors like these that give the church a bad name smh an also why a lot of our generation left the church. What y'all think? 🤔"
In the video, the pastor continued, “Ooh, you can buy a Movado [watch] at Sam's [Club] and you know I asked for one last year. And here it is all the way in August and I still ain't got it,” before adding: “Let me kick down the door and talk to my cheap sons and daughters.”
However later, Funderburke apologized for his behavior in a Facebook video. In the clip, shared on Church at the Well’s account, he can be heard saying that the speech “does not reflect my heart or my sentiment toward God's people, yet, that's not discernible in the clip.” He went on to say as he referred to a script, “Therefore, I offer this sincere apology to you today. No context could erase the words I used. I apologize to all the people that have been hurt or angered or anyway damaged by my words.”
“For those who know and love me, thank you for your support. For those who now know me because of this video clip, I regret that your first impression of me is one of anger, hate, and resentment,” Funderburke added.
The pastor’s actions have received mixed reactions from people online as a user tweeted, “What would Jesus do?” A second user said, “Not a pastor, closer to a televangelist …. I hope his flock showed him the door …..” The third one wrote, “Gee- I wonder why a certain continent is full of crappy nations.” “WHAT A JERK! TELL HIM TO GOOF OFF! PUTS JEWELERY OVER PEOPLE? REALLY? WHAT A JERK OFF. WHO THE HELL IS THAT ‘PERSON’?” the fourth one added.
