The little boy's mother issued a warning on the Tiny Hearts Education Instagram page, advising parents to keep their children at least a meter away from the heater. My son didn’t even feel that he was on fire my husband smelt it, saw the flame and quickly responded. He was in front of it for less than 30 seconds before catching fire." A snapshot revealed a large hole in the boy's garment from the top of his thigh to his lower back, revealing his nappies.

Tiny Hearts Education recommended that families maintain their gas heaters every two years and keep combustible things at least one meter away from the heater. It also cautioned parents that "low fire danger" apparel was still combustible.
