SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Locals at a well-known Sydney beach were furious to learn that a dog had been locked inside a scorching car while its owners allegedly took a refreshing swim. A woman uploaded several pictures of the dog on the passenger seat of a grey hatchback that was parked in a Bondi Beach parking lot on Friday, February 17.

As the temperatures rose steadily to the mid-20s, a woman criticized the owner's "stupidity" for leaving their dog unsupervised inside a hot car. "Another act of stupidity.... left in the car behind the pavilion," the woman posted on the private Bondi Local Loop page on Facebook, as per Daily Mail.

'Not okay'

"When parked it may had been in the shade but now it's in full sun. Black leather seat is so hot already... and even with four windows down," the woman noted, adding the dog was drooling on the seats and windows and was heavily panting. "And those of you who think it is fine... l suggest you swap seats with the dog and see if you can handle it for a while," she wrote.

The woman later updated her post and claimed that the couple seemed to have gone swimming and purchased a coffee before returning to their car. "And while they mean no harm to the dog, it is still not okay to leave them in the car," she said. "Nor being tied to the fence while swimming."

'Why bring your dog?'

Locals were eager to react to the crisis, with some even going so far as to call the dog's owners using the number printed on his collar. "I've just text the owner, they've taken him for a swim at double bay and he seems out the sun now and I've reminded them they had lots of people worried for the dogs safety and asked not to leave the dog alone in the car again," a woman wrote. "Why bring your dog with you if your going to leave them in the car," another said.

'Stop being such a Karen!'

Meanwhile, others said the woman had overreacted by posting the owner's personal details on social media. "Why is it not ok to leave your dog in the car at 7am when it's probably very cool in the shade, with the windows down," he wrote. "If I came back from grabbing a coffee to find you had posted my phone number and address on Facebook for leaving my dog for 10 minutes with the windows down you would probably be wearing the coffee." "It's 7am! The window is open! Stop being such a Karen!" another agreed.
