Who owns NewsNation? Chris Cuomo to join media outlet as primetime anchor after CNN ouster
After his dismissal from CNN in December last year, Chris Cuomo will join Nexstar’s NewsNation soon. The announcement came during an interview with Dan Abrams on NewsNation’s ‘Dan Abrams Live’ on July 26.
The 51-year-old Cuomo, who was fired by CNN last year following a professional and personal conduct scandal, made his first exclusive public interview since the exit. In a one-on-one with Abrams, the anchor spoke about his new role with the cable network and said, “I really believe that this outlet has a chance to reach who I call free agents — not right, not left, reasonable. Regular, open mind, open heart, willing to listen when someone disagrees.” According to Businesswire, Cuomo, the award-winning broadcast journalist, and an attorney will be joining the network's prime-time line-up this fall as the host of his own show. He said, "NewsNation believes in the work I am doing with the Chris Cuomo Project and I look forward to building something special here - covering news wherever it happens and having conversations that cater to common concerns and solutions rather than political parties or the political circus." Commenting on his joining, Sean Compton, Nexstar Media Inc’s President of Networks, said, “Chris joins our growing team of seasoned, award-winning journalists and will further our efforts to continue to ensure fairness and transparency in our news reporting and talk shows.”
