The last intimate conversation we saw Dr Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman) and Dr Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) have was when he discovered that Dr Cassian Shin (Daniel Dae Kim) and she were dating, after walking in on them kissing. When he asked Helen why she didn't talk to him about it, Helen asked him if he shared everything with her. It then came to light that Helen knew that Max had been in a relationship earlier, which he didn't share with her. Their conversation was then interrupted by Cassian who whisked Helen off for a dance. However, since then Dr Helen has broken up with Cassian, ostensibly to take care of her niece who is coming to live with her from Iran.

Being Max and Helen, they have found time to discuss systemic racism and job promotions but not tackled the topic fans actually want them to address -- Sharpwin! Will Helen give Max a chance even though he hid his last relationship from her? Does Max have the time and the headspace for a relationship? While lack of communication keeps these two apart, we think there's a high chance for a real shot at romance. Fans are getting tired of the side romances and suspense. They just want a Sharpwin plotline back on track.

One fan on YouTube said, "Am I the only one wondering why there were no Helen and Max scenes in the last episode?" This fan clearly wasn't alone. One fan tweeted, "The way they’re (not) writing Sharpwin almost makes me feel compelled to write a fanfic to fix it. I have all this dialogue floating around in my head that could solve everything. I ain’t got the time for this." Another concurred, "Yes because they are frustrating the hell out of me. Idk what direction they are going for with sharpwin and I heard we are only getting 14 episodes this season. They wasted time with Shin (with no pay off) and now with Helen's niece."

The upcoming episode doesn't seem to have any noteworthy Max and Helen moments either. But to find out if the writers of 'New Amsterdam' get the hint from fans and get Max and Helen to sit down and have a much-needed talk, you can tune into the latest episodes of 'New Amsterdam' on Tuesdays at 10 pm on NBC.
