Netflix 'On My Block' Season 4: Release date, spoilers and all about the last season
'On My Block' is returning for the the fourth and final season on Netflix and the gang is ready to go for one final adventure
‘On My Block’ fans, rejoice! Our favorite East LA crew is returning for one last season on Netflix. The streaming giant is set to come out with the fourth and final season of the popular show ‘On My Block’ and fans can’t wait to go on an adventurous ride with the beloved characters. The show revolves around a quartet of bright, street-savvy friends who are navigating their way through high school.
Lifelong friendships are tested as Monse (Sierra Capri), Ruby (Jason Genao), Cesar (Diego Tinoco), and Jamal (Brett Gray) confront the challenges of adolescence and life in their predominantly Hispanic and black neighborhood in South Central Los Angeles. The upcoming series joins the list of titles that are led by Black actors. ‘Pose’, ‘Lupin’ and ‘Dear White People’ are some of the finest examples of the projects led by brilliant Black actors.
The coming-of-age show is returning sooner than expected. Season 3 of the dramedy series dropped on March 11, last year and garnered universal acclaim. It seems the makers did not want fans to wait any longer for the gang to arrive on their screens and are ready to bring the fourth season just a year and a half after the previous edition arrived.
Here’s everything we know about ‘On My Block’ Season 4.
Release date and how to watch
All ten episodes of the fourth and final season of ‘On My Block’ will be premiering exclusively on Netflix on October 4. You can also watch it by signing up for the platform’s free trial. Apart from that, viewers can also opt for different subscription plans provided by the streaming giant. “‘On My Block’ is a coming-of-age comedy about a group of bright and street-savvy friends navigating their way through high school in the rough inner city. Season 4 finds our friends two years later, having gone their separate ways. When a secret is unburied, they quickly learn you can’t run from the past and they will need to stick together to survive.”
Season 3 ended on a bittersweet note, with Monse leaving Freeridge for a private boarding school. Jamal, Cesar, and Ruby saw her off and they all made a promise that the distance won’t drift them apart. However, we see a surprise epilogue at the end which shows that they are not talking to each other now. Monse is busy at boarding school and now has new friends. Meanwhile, Jamal has rejoined the football team and he is not talking to Ruby.
On the other hand, Cesar and Spooky seem to have changed places. Cesar is now the leader of Santos while Spooky is at home, expecting a baby with his girlfriend.
All the original cast members are returning for the final season. Jason Genao will be back as Ruby while Brett Gray will be returning to play Jamal. On the other hand, Sierra Capri and Diego Tinoco will be portraying the characters of Monse and Cesar respectively. Other actors to feature in the series are Jessica Marie Garcia (Jasmine) and Julio Macias (Oscar).
The series has been created by the amazing trio of Lauren Iungerich, Eddie Gonzalez, and Jeremy Haft. The aforementioned names also serve as executive producers on the show. Jamie Dooner, Robert Sudduth, Hal Olofsson, and Arlyn Richardson are producers on the show.
Netflix recently released a first look at 'On My Block' Season 4 in images that showed how the friends have changed since the previous season and now the trailer. If these are anything to go by then fans of the show can expect an emotional ending headed their way. Compared to Season 1, it seems like viewers will get to see an entirely new group in Season 4.
