The Daily Mail reported that a friend of Pacholke had called 911 to ask police to do a welfare check. By the time police arrived, however, Pacholke was already dead. Several officers went to her house that morning after she made multuple suicidal comments in text messages. A day prior to her death, a friend had removed all firearms from Pacholke's came, considering her mental helath condition. The night before her death, Pacholke searched on Google how she could end her life.

Pacholke was preparing to marry Kyle Haase in six weeks. Haase, 38, is a divorced father of two children. However, Haase reportedly broke up with her in recent days. Pacholke also reportedly discovered another woman's panties in the house she bought with Haase. Pacholke's friends told Daily Mail that her relationship with Haase was not a happy one. “They were always arguing, and it seemed like Neena was more in love with Kyle than he was with her,” a friend of hers revealed. Another friend claimed infidelity was involved.

Pacholke also experienced a tragedy in her teenage years. She reportedly lost her first love, Jordan Harris, to brain cancer in 2013. Her friends revealed that she was depressed and that her depression had worsened in recent months.

Before her death, Pacholke told her sister in text messages that she was "broken" and "needed someone to talk to". "He [Kyle] told me he hates me and will feel like a million bucks once I am out of his life," she told her sister. In the minutes leading up to her death, Pacholke wrote to Kyle, "I love you Kyle. I always have and always will. Despite how much you ruined me, I always had hope. I'm so sorry to do this to you but I can't handle any of this pain anymore."

At the time, Kyle was driving with his children. He responded upon getting the message, "The police are there", adding a minute later, "If you don't answer they are going to open the door on their own." However, Pacholke could not be saved.

A GoFundMe was later launched to collect donations for the Pacholke family. "We are deeply saddened about the sudden passing of our beautiful Neena Pacholke this past weekend," the page reads. "Neena radiated light and love wherever she went. She was a force of kindness, and her laughter and smile were contagious.
