'NCIS: Hawai’i' Episode 1: Lucy and Kate kiss, fans say they 'knew there was tension'

The kiss also suggests that Lucy and Kate were a couple before possibly going their seperate ways with their respective careers

Romance wasn't a missed component in the latest spin-off of 'NCIS' and it was between two characters who made an instant impact on the show. Yasmine Al- Bustami's Lucy Tara and CIA rep Kate (Tori Anderson) had the audience floored with a short, but intense kiss that they didn't see coming. This was one of the plotlines of the pilot that sees  Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and her team exploring the crash of an experimental Naval aircraft on Oahu and attempt to catch the person behind it before classified state secrets are exposed.

Lucy is introduced as one of the members of Tennant's team with an eye for detail and a crisp memory, and her initial meeting with Anderson's Kate doesn't go well as the latter refuses to hand over reports of the dead pilot. However, Lucy manages to get a good enough look which her team further investigates much to Kate's chagrin. When she confronts Tennant about it, Lucy goes to apologize for her actions only for the duo to start kissing, which is cut quite short.

One segment of the fans felt that there was something between the duo right from the start. "Uh huh. There was tension there and it wasn't just professional #NCISHawaii," read one of the tweets. This was seconded by another who wrote: "I didn't see THAT coming with Whistler and Tara. #NCISHawaii." The ship angle clearly was a hit. "Lucy and Kate are great together. i can feel it!!! #NCISHawaii" one of the fans wrote. "Same!! I KNEW there was something there the moment they were first on-screen together… #NCISHawaii," said one of the tweets.

"@torianderson you and Lucy… that chemistry too? I’m here for it #NCISHawaii," one of the fans remarked. With this kiss, the angle all but confirmed they were a couple. "Oh - these two were a couple! That’s what all the tension was about! #NCISHawaii," a fan guessed.
