National Siblings Day is celebrated on April 10 in recognition of the importance of siblings in our lives and in our families. This day is also known as World Siblings Day. Siblings may be our biggest foes but we can all agree, they are also our best friends.
Our siblings are our greatest competitors and inspire us to strive for excellence. Siblings Day was recognized by President Obama, and the Siblings Day Foundation was granted non-profit status.

History and significance of Siblings Day
The American holiday was created in 1995 by Claudia Evart, who lost her sister and brother at an early age. She created the holiday to celebrate their memory after realizing the importance of siblings in our lives. The day was chosen by Claudia to honor her late sister Lisette's birthday on April 10.
The Siblings Day Foundation, which Claudia founded, is attempting to have the holiday recognized by the federal government in the US and is partnering with the UN to create an International Siblings Day. Since 1998, 49 states have issued gubernatorial proclamations designating April 10 as the holiday; three US presidents have recognized it, Eduvast reported. A Twitter user shared a picture saying, "National Siblings Day (also referred to as Sibling Day) on April 10th each year honors our brothers and sisters."
