National Cheesesteak Day: 3 easy and delicious sandwich recipes to try at home

National Cheesesteak Day celebrates the cheesesteak sandwich, which originated in Philadelphia and has become a recognised American symbol.

National Cheesesteak Day is observed on March 24 in honor of the cheesesteak sandwich. This sandwich, also known as the Philly Cheesesteak and originating in Philadelphia, features melted cheese layered on a hoagie rolls and topped with slices of beef steak.

The cheesesteak, a sumptuous and delicious American specialty, has evolved from its humble beginnings into a globally recognized American icon. Although Pat and Harry Olivieri are credited with inventing the cheesesteak, it is not known who started National Cheesesteak Day.

Here are 3 easy recipes to try at home. 

Cheesesteak sandwich, Recipe 1

Everyone who loves cheesesteak sandwich can try this mouthwatering recipe that has been provided by Orange County Breeze.

INGREDIENTS: Grapeseed oil, onions, salt, and pepper, butter, 9-inch sub rolls, shaved beef, and provolone

1. In a large saute pan or griddle, heat oil over medium-high heat, add onions, salt and pepper, and cook until caramelized, 5 to 6 minutes.

2. Spread softened butter on the rolls and cook, butter-side down, until browned, 1 to 2 minutes.

3. Add raw steak to the griddle and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

4. Divide meat into 4 piles, top with provolone and cook until cheese melts and serve hot.

Cheesesteak sandwich, Recipe 2

Here is another delectable recipe from The Toasty Kitchen.

INGREDIENTS: Unsalted butter, hoagie rolls, desired toppings, cheese, seasoning, ribeye

1. Butter and toast your hoagie rolls and set aside.

2. Sauté your preferred toppings in butter until softened and browned around the edges. Remove from the pan and set aside.

3. Quickly sauté your thin sliced ribeye in the same pan.

4. Add your veggies back to the pan and stir to combine.

5. Last, separate your cheesesteak filling into two piles, add your cheese, and allow it to melt.

6. Transfer the filling to your prepared rolls and enjoy!



 

Cheesesteak Sandwich, Recipe 3

Last but not the least delicious cheesteak recipe from Valentinas Corner.

INGREDIENTS: Beef steak, green pepper, onion, mushrooms, provolone cheese, garlic cloves, olive oil, unsalted butter, hoagie rolls, mayo

1. In a small bowl, combine salt, pepper, and paprika for seasoning.

2. Thinly slice the steak, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, and garlic.

3. Heat butter in a large skillet, add the steak and spread out evenly.

4. Season with remaining seasoning, top with cheese, and toast hoagies.

5. Add half of the Philly cheesesteak mixture.

6. Add half of the Philly cheesesteak mixture into each bun. Enjoy!
