LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: In a new row of disturbing charges, the 'Dances With Wolves' actor has been accused of sexually abusing and trafficking Indigenous girls and women in the Canada and US for decades. On Wednesday, February 22, Nathan Chasing Horse was indicted by a grand jury in Nevada. Indicted on 19 counts adding to previous charges of child abuse, trafficking, and sexual assault, the 46-year-old currently faces new charges in four jurisdictions.

The slew of charges in the new case has been brought by Montana's Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Horse has been described as a cult leader by the Las Vegas police as the actor gained access to Indigenous women and girls after he proclaimed himself as a medicine man and misused his position as the leader of his cult 'The Circle'. He then sexually assaulted the girls and took them as underage wives and was also accused of grooming young victims to replace his older wives, reported CBS News.

Chasing Horse's defender set to reveal holes in the case

Talking to The Associated Press, Horse's defender Kristy Holston said for the preliminary hearing which was scheduled on Wednesday morning but canceled ahead of the indictment, and she was looking forward to revealing the weaknesses in the state's case. She also said, "Since the public is so interested in this case and because only select details of the accusations have been released, we think it would be most appropriate for the State to present their evidence in a public hearing where the defense can reveal the weaknesses of the State's case on the record in court." On March 1, Horse is expected to arraign in Clark County District Court. He currently remains in the Las Vegas jail and is held on a bond of $300,000.

Chasing Horse's federal child pornography charges

On January 31, Horse was arrested near his North Las Vegas home, a place he shared with his five wives. As per the arrest report, police officers conducted a search of his home and discovered two cell phones that contained photos and videos of underage girls being sexually abused. Apart from that, 41 pounds of marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms and firearms were also recovered from that place. Since the footage of the assaults was found, the actor faced child pornography charges in Nevada's US District Court and was arrested by the Las Vegas police after a month-long investigation. He has also been accused of filming himself sexually abusing a child and entering the shocking details of his abuse in a journal.

Dating back to the 2000s, the investigators found a pattern of alleged crimes and sexual abuse by the actor. The crimes reportedly took place in several states including South Dakota, Montana, and also Canada, according to court documents. Horse has been charged with rape in British Columbia in connection to a 2018 case. Based on a 2005 rape case, the actor has been charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault by prosecutors with Montana's Fort Peck Tribes, as per the CBS News report.
