LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for a 2013 Los Angeles rape case. He appeared in court for his hearing on Thursday, February 24, three months after he was convicted of rape and assault. The disgraced Hollywood mogul was denied his request for a new trial before an impact statement was given in court before Judge Lisa B Lench by the victim Jane Doe 1, who is identified as an Italian model.

With an existing 23-year prison time he has been serving in New York for third-degree rape and criminal sexual assault, Weinstein begged the court to not sentence him to life in prison before the final sentence was announced. "I maintain that I am innocent. I don’t know this woman. This is about money. This is what happens when there is a cottage industry of lawyers. She had every opportunity to report this to the police," and added, “This is another story and with all due respect, Jane Doe 1 is an actress. She can turn the tears on. Please don’t sentence me to life in prison. I don’t deserve it. There are so many things wrong with this case. This is a setup. I beg your mercy."
